Considering Black Panther is more serious, deeper, and more complex than every X-Men movie to date( besides Logan which only gets a point higher because its rated R and could go that extra mile in content) I think it's safe to say that the property will be in good hands with the company that birthed them than who adopted them(Fox). I eagerly await to see Wolverine be part of the Avengers and for Kitty Pryde to begin dating Star Lord... Black Panther was 85% serious. X-Men is 99% serious. Black Panther still had some of the MCU jokes. Black Panther is not as complex as the X-Men movies, but they did try and I praise the effort but as I said, the movie was more Thor 1 than X-Men. It is not safe to say xmen is in good hands, see what black panther had on its side is that it was a black heritage movie and disney could not disrespect that or make it joke. that had to make it more serious. there was no other choice. xmen for all their themes, drama, complexity and depth have more white characters so disney can easily dismiss that to make it more comedy. Wolverine should not be part of the Avengers and Kitty should not be with star lord, things like this is what ruined marvel comics. Have you ever watched an X-men movie? 99% serious? The character of Logan alone pushes the comedy to the 50% meter. He's the X-men version of Tony Stark.

Wolverine should not be part of the Avengers and Kitty should not be with star lord, things like this is what ruined marvel comics. In your own fairy tale world perhaps, but in reality Black Panther is just as if not more mature than most X-Men movies released thus far and unlike them was willing to embrace its comic book roots instead of trying to be gritty and grounded. The jokes in Black Panther are more sophisticated and actually move the plot forward, unlike, say, Toad's random dance number in X-1 or Mystique trying to seduce and get it on with Wolverine in X-2, or hell practically everything in The Last Stand or all of X-Men Origins: Wolverine ( That boxing match with Blob, like a rejected skit from the Austin Powers movies). and you keep missing the point. black panther is different. disney had to respect that. X-men is gritty and grounded because the comic stories and universe is. this is why you mcu fans and not xmen fans, so stop trying to change what xmen is to make it fit disney's rules. watch xmen evolution season 4. and this is cartoon. please, why do you think marvel animation has suffered since disney took over? because even the older xmen and spiderman cartoons had more maturity and depth than most of all the mcu cartoons/films today. Raven trying to seduce wolverine is what she does in the comics with most male characters. ask nightwaler's father, Gambit or how she birthed craydon creed. as I said, mcu fans research the xmen lore at least and stop talking out of your ass. overall, black panther is still a movie that had the problamtic third cgi arc and there were still a few joke moments. the cinematography could have been better too. if the 3rd arc of black panther looked like this? that would have made the movie just as serious as a standard x-men or nolan movie. mcu just fears the night. everything with mcu has to always look bright, cartoony and colourful and even black panther became a victim to this rule. More importantly, mcu has 18 movies. don't you see how strange it is that you are using one movie (a black african movie) to say disney will make good xmen movies? just one? that should tell you the overall body of work from marvel does not give any true xmen fan hope. as i said what saved black panther from been full comedy and disneyfied is due to the non white cast. Movies such as First Class, X2, DOFP, Logan were loosely adapted from xmen comic storylines and mcu cannot make these movies. this is fact. every mcu film from nowon is comedy and light hearted. mcu has confirmed it. The Thor 3 director wants a comedy movie for wanda/vision. Wanda, who is actually a mutant is not a comedic character. she is much like Legion. messed up , fragile and sick in the head. that has to be fully explored seriously. it is not comedy. Speaking of Wanda , can MCU do House of M justice? Spiderman was psychologically traumatised after the events of that storyline , mutants faced extinction-becoming engendered species. you can not use the mcu comedy cgi formula on that story. You have to wonder since spiderman homecoming is currently in the same boat as Hannah Montana in terms of tone and film making style.. the Sam Raimi's films could have gone there. MCU can't , not under Disney. Lastly I do not make excuses for films such as Apocalypse and Origins. Last Stand for all the flaws had a more realistic and serious civil war than marvel's own civil war airport moment and some great performances like Kelsey Grammer as Beast. People are saying I asking for the impossible and spreading hate. No, I am just saying the truth, giving the reality of the situation.

You act like they were forced into anything. No it isn't. The comics have never been grounded. Any comic reader will tell you that. You mean where they fight an immortal Egyptian Cyborg who uses technology he got from a Time traveler? If you think that, you're truly a silly person. And it's dumb there too. Don't watch Ghostbusters, you'll go mad. Crappy? Erik doing his usual pretentious nonsense? No, they just don't like pretentious stuff. We don't, we've been saying that for years when there were fewer movies. Ashamed of their origins. Unashamed. Yeah, and? It's be something new. Legion is an overall crappy character who has never been anything but a plot device. It was a crappy story to begin with... No it wasn't. Just more pretentious.

At the end of the day, the average MCU film still earns more money, has better word of mouth and is more critically acclaimed than the average X-men movie. In short, the MCU in general is simply better than Fox's X-men. Suck it up.

If Nolan made an X-Men movie, I bet many of you would complain about it. Christopher Nolan is a unappreciated genius who gave us one of the best trilogies and THE best comic book movie of all time. I do not think Nolan has to make an xmen movie but someone similar with his talents will be good. I hope DC holds on to matt reeves. No doubt if matt reeves had made xmen under fox, where he made his planet of the apes trilogy, it would have turned out better than anything Disney will ever do with xmen. It's an artistic film fact.

Clearly not all MCU fans have been humbled this past year and admitted the awful truth about the so called great rotten tomatoes because they now have to admit it was never credible. As a reader of xmen comics, disney cash flow and puff piece good mcu reviews does not impress me. just more Disney co-operate shilling nonsense. I prefer actual substance and real film craft.

Disney produced and distributed productions. The average MCU films makes more and has better word of the mouth than your average X-Men film because they're better put together superhero movies that hold up on repeat viewings and don't try to spell out everything for audiences so they are told to feel a particular way about a character or scene. You are not a reader of xmen comics, you gain all your info from Wikipedia and other random places, in actuality you are a false fan who likes to fancy themselves as a fan but really you know fairly little about the property, or you are just a troll. But you are definitely not a true fan of the comics.

By your logic the first three Terminators are all James Cameron's, even though he had nothing to do with T-3. No it isn't, just because a director did good with one other property doesn't mean they would knock it out of the park for another one.

summers8 (et al.) Perhaps I should just keep my mouth shut, as I don’t really know much of anything about the X-Men series, but one of the problems I’ve noticed with these “Marvel universe” flicks is how much they tend to subvert individual directorial style and authorship—something this auteurist finds particularly troubling. For DC, I can’t say yea or nay about directorial personality in Wonder Woman, as Miss Jenkins’s oeuvre is so small, but Snyder’s personal style in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman shines through, whether I like ( BvS) or dislike ( MoS) the results. For Marvel, the only director, it seems, who really molded the material to his personality was, unsurprisingly, the great Joe Johnston ( Captain America). Note that that does not necessarily translate into quality— metteur-en-scène Jon Favreau gave us what I’d still consider the best Marvel film, Iron Man—but it often does, and that is the point. Thor, in particular, completely divorces director and material, and I thought it just plain dull. I’m not a Nolan fan, but he does make the films his own—which, in this age of directorial ambiguity, should be celebrated.

When using pretty much any metric we know to measure a movie's quality, MCU movies end up being better than X-men movies on average. Make up whatever excuses you want, it won't change the facts.

Word of mouth for x-men = grounded, well acted, serious, deep, drama, complex, above the comic film status quo. Word of mouth for mcu= fun, funny, pop corn entertainment, jokes, a blast. The only movies that ever got the kind of word of mouth the good xmen movies got were the Nolan movies. one more reason most batman fans turned out to be xmen fans and vice versa and xmen fans do not get along with mcu fans. I am an xmen fan. you are obviously not one. One more reason both movies series should be kept separate. Every X-Men fan is praying for Comcast right now to outbid fox. are you?

They don't understand the characters and they completely suck at handling ensemble movies... which is something you need to know how to do to handle a team like the X-men. As for your word of mouth quotes, you forgot one thing to add. Word of mouth for the average MCU movie = good/enjoyable. Word of mouth for the average X-men film = meh/just ok. You can claim they're grounded, deep, serious, complex, etc. as much as you want, at the end of the day most metrics still agree that MCU movies are better than Fox X-men movies on average. If you're a true X-men fan, you'd prefer a good, enjoyable X-men film over a serious but bland X-men film.
