I'm not deflecting anything. In fact I dare you to explain why you are made of the right stuff and why I'm duped. You can't or you would have done it already in a bestselling book. But isn't that exactly what Christianity is all about, in believing that their belief is made up of the right stuff and being a true and genuine Christian, is to spread the word? Perhaps you have been duped. There are plenty of books out there on theology and religion to read; but at the end of the day, all it comes down to is you, your own life and state of being. Religion— any religion—has nothing to do with your holistic journey. Even Christ knew this. There is ultimately NO religion. Whatever Christianity is made up of, it doesn't concern you and you lack the intellect, experience, & wisdom to make a judgement about it & me despite your desperate need to judge.

I’m not “proving” anything. I’m merely validating my own question. validating your own question? you have to tell yourself you are right? No. I was telling you because you asked. Keep up!

It doesn’t matter what I think. We can speculate about what RACE the Bible authors were trying to imply without ever mentioning skin color. But race is something they didn’t discuss (because it was irrelevant). What was relevant were locations and customs, not color. Race was not a factor. Okay....congratulations on your semantic victory. I’m just pointing out facts. It’s not a competition; thus there is no “victory”. I didn’t ask about “Africans”. I asked about black Americans. What they do in Africa is of little concern to me in the United States.

Hey! IF you Christians could get over the fact that MOST black people in Africa and those who were slaves and taken to the Americas were forced into Christianity by missionaries and the abusive of slave owners, maybe the atheists such as myself here could acknowledge that having had your whole life, community, native beliefs and freedom taken from you and forced into slavery and often tortuous situations, then the message of Christianity has its benefits for hope and salvation. How could anyone deny either of those things? Presactly! The God botherers are saying that the black people came to it willingly back when! In a sense they did, butt the other 'choices' were non-existent...you know things like maintaining your family, society, beliefs and culture!

And white people have been insisting that he was a white man with blue eyes and long flowing blonde hair for centuries. Don’t know why you think that would be more accurate. To be honest! he looks gay there! LOL

Why are you now making it about judgement? All I am doing is making some pointers to you about what Christianity is supposed to represent. You haven't acknowledged this. And of course it concerns me, when most of how our society operates, is steeped in Christian tradition that I may not agree with. If you want to be Christian fine, that is your call. I have just put a different slant on something that perhaps has challenged your own outlook\belief. You are also making a judgement on me, by making a cheap shot that I lack intellect, experience and wisdom. Is this because I am not Christian?

There was no other choice, due to oppression and all in the name of Christianity.

To be honest! he looks gay there! LOL Careful, I made that joke once and poor little erjenious and his stupid friend made out that I was serious and clearly a homosexual. Bring it on, I say! It would be endlessly entertaining hearing their reasons why a married mother of 3 and grandmother of 7 is a homosexual! Mind you I HAVE just made a new single woman friend of a next door neighbour that could be perceived as dodgy. We go for long training walks together butt I swear we don't hold hands!

People become or claim to become Christians for quite a large variety of reasons, much like in other religions or organizations.
For some it's because they don't know what else to do with themselves on weekends.
For others it's because of divine revelation, real or perceived.
There are lots of reasons between. For some it's because they like someone who belongs to some group. For others it's because they don't like someone who doesn't belong.
For many it's because they think most people want (or "society" wants) them to go to join some group.
Surprising few people of whatever color know anything about their choices beyond that.

Why, oh why??? do Christian, mostly fundies have this mantra of 'it doesn't concern you' and 'none of your business' when addressing others who disagree, especially in the USA when, despite the amendment about separation of church and state, the views of fundy Christians are often reflected in politics and policy?

Careful, I made that joke once and poor little erjenious and his stupid friend made out that I was serious and clearly a homosexual. We can't have a gay Jesus now can we. What would erjen think? As with most of the other Christians on this board I am starting to case less and less what they think, if they are really Christians and not poes, they are mostly bottom of the barrel Christians in my mind, who have failed to think through what they believe. Interestingly the one who actually seems to think a little seems to have trouble communicating his thoughts, it's a pity as it seems like he and I have a lot in common.
