Great video for a great tune.
A few other comments:
Re that prechorus layered harmony vocal, that part always reminded me a lot of the Oak Ridge Boys.
The prechorus bass and drum groove is like a variation on "You Can't Hurry Love"
Re that killer horn riff before the chorus, what Jeff Porcaro does on the drums kicks it up another notch, especially with the little sextuplet fill and then the snare hit on the upbeat (either the "&" of 4 or 4 depending on how you're counting it), which matches "Meet you" as the vocal pick-up into the chorus.
He doesn't point out how cool those glissandi are on the chords at the end of the keyboard solo. The keyboard solo is also brilliantly layered, with the slight timbral differences in the different lines having a big impact.
I never noticed that little chromatic walkdown in the outro guitar solo before (it's what he says "is a real Lukather thing")

Never thought about it before, but yes I can hear a Steely Dan influence.
