Seen many of his movies. My favorite silent director. Sunrise is such an amazing movie. It's remarkable that Murnau could tell a story with so few intertitles. Loved Faust, The Last Laugh (not the forced happy ending), City Girl, Nosferatu. Tabu is one of the most beautifully filmed b/w movies ever. I'll take FW over DW, Fritz Lang, GW Pabst, even Chaplin.

Nosferatu (still the scariest vampire), Faust (had to be an inspiration for Fantasia's Bald Mountain sequence). I saw the Last Laugh in school.

I don't know if you have ever seen this. Absolutely magnificent documentary about European silents. Episode 3 deals with the German expressionists, including Murnau.
The whole thing is worth watching. It got me away from thinking silents were just the Keystone Cops, Harold Lloyd and Chaplin.

Nosferatu is my favorite silent movie, and one of my favorite movies in general. Faust and Sunrise are also great. I didn't like The Last Laugh that much. Overall, behind Victor Sjöström, he's probably my favorite silent director. Interested in seeing more.
