Yeah, I wonder if Sean Miller is going to be facing criminal charges. I have a feeling Zona is about to get slammed, and I’m wondering who else will get in trouble, I wonder if teams will be banned from the tourney.

I would think he would be charged with collusion or something of that sort. klawrencio79 would be the guy to ask that. They just as well ban these teams from the tourney rather than have any wins vacated later. I don't know if the NCAA will move that fast though.

Hmmmph. MY Thread wasn't good enough. Just because it had a clever name. Hmmmph.
I read some people saying when this started to come out in September that it would shake up the sport more than the 50's Point Shaving Scandal. That could be an underestimate. You have to wonder if CBS, ESPN and Turner will step in (behind the scenes) and lessen the impact. It will be harmful for the TV rating if all the big schools are on probation and the 2020 NCAA Championship Game is East Carolina v. Utah State.

It was so clever that I skipped over it while looking for simalar threads. I was drunk, yeah that's the ticket. I was drunk and high, yeah that's the ticket. Would you like to meet my wife, Morgan Fairchild?

If they have his voice on a wiretap, it's kind of hard to deny. One question, doesn't the FBI have better things to do. I realize it's fraud and it involves lotsa money, but it's not exactly Enron, John Dillinger of the Lindbergh Kidnapping.

The Final 4 this year will be New Jersey Institute of Technology, University of Northern Colorado, Gardner Webb University, and the Penguins of Youngstown State University.
Who will be left to play in the NIT?

Who will be left to play in the NIT? The sanctions won't go into effect this season. Ban the schools named and they will flood the courts with injunctions. NCAA doesn't want that. But that could very well be the 2019 Final Four. And if you knew everything that went on at those schools, they wound probably be on probation. Might end up being the Service Academies and the Ivy League dominating CBB.

In the grand scheme of things, for lack of a better word, the importance of this case isn't up there with the current gun debate, being pro-life or pro-choice, etc. etc. The idea of a student athlete is a quaint one from a different time. The 5 kids on the basketball court or the 22 playing football make their schools wheelbarrows full of money. Their images and likeness are used on shirts, marketing materials, video games and the like without a single cent coming their way. Now I 100% agree that the athletes on full scholarships get the incredible benefit of a free education, but I would think most of them aren't necessarily there for that. If college is to prepare you for your future career, then these athletes are "majoring" in football and basketball. If they're not going to be paid in the traditional paycheck sense, let them earn money off their names or get jobs etc.
The thing that I don't like about the case is that it's the same big schools getting bigger at the expense of the smaller schools.
I didn't see Villanova on the list, looks like at least one school can be successful the right way.

Trying to survive and help their families at the same time. Yeah - a scholarship is great and lot of students envy that - but there's no guarantees in life - take what you can get and protect yourself. Curious to see what goes on with Ayton from 'Zona. $100,000 - and according to a lot of mocks he's supposed to be the #1 pick this year.

A big man as talented as Ayton is hard to find and the lotto teams would love to have him.

So I guess we still can't cut to the chase and just pay them and be done with all this BS?

Seth Greenberg was on ESPN this morning practically in tears stating how he's known Miller since he was 5. I love stuff like this. Human interest stories. i.e. what drives somebody to break the rules in life. ESPN (30 for 30) has a great piece out there about the point shaving scandal at Boston College years ago in relation to Henry Hill - from Goodfellas fame.

If you like the 30 for 30, you might like this one City Dump, the story of the CCNY point shaving scandal of the 50's. A lot of schools were involved, most of the NYC schools, Kentucky, Bradley. But the doc focuses on CCNY. It changed CBB. The NYC schools were big at the time. CCNY, NYU, Manhattan, Long Island University. All got busted. Only St. John's seemed top stay clear of it, which is why they are the big school in the City now. Hell, even Junior Soprano was involved.
