What a surprise this was. I didn't know what to fully expect from this, thinking it would just be another generic mystery horror of the 2000's, but I was proven wrong. This movie really went for broke, giving us some chaotic moments and dark themes. And the twist I did not see from a mile away! Who here has seen Orphan and what are your thoughts on this one?

i fucking loved that movie! the actually rooted for the 'little girl'. everyone else except the deaf girl were assholes.
1: so she has another kid who dies and they can't get over it. i understand not getting over a death especially when there was no indication that anything was wrong -- i mean, what is this 1500? is she Katherine of Aragon? they also have two other kids to deal with, one of them is deaf. i don't think it is the time to take care of a Russian kid [whom, by kind of personal opinion are the worst kids [unfortunately] for unsuspecting americans to adopt. they are either nuts or come with a whole slew of mental/physical/both disabilities or both].
2: the parents bang each other in the kitchen with the kids home. loudly. ugh.
3: how the hell did she get all that blacklight paint?
4: if your marriage was strained by the stillborn third child, then you didn't have much of a marriage to begin with.

It was pretty dumb and silly, but I agree, it was a surprise. It's ultimately pretty damn entertaining even though I was laughing at it more than with it. It seemed dull at first but was ultimately a pretty fun time.

Very good film and great performance by Isabelle Fuhrman.
The only thing I thought was unbelievable was the mother not questioning the fabric around her neck/wrists. You never once asked about it or wanted it taken off?

the mother was so slappable in this. true, she noticed Esther being a little weird but she is your 'daughter' and you show you don't like her? yeah, she's going to go all wacko on your ass.

I agree. I thought just another 'Bad Seed' type film. Didn't see her being and adult woman coming at all.

Cheap jump scares. Annoying characters. They stole the worst line from the even worse Ring Two...
Yeah, not a fan. Fuhrman gave a good performance, and the twist was marginally clever. That's all I liked about it.

That's all I liked about it. Ring Two was the absolute worst. I paid for it on PPV and didn't even finish it. Total waste of time and money.

Vera Farmiga stars in it, so that makes it rule in my book. It did rip-off THE RING 2, with the line ..."I'm not your f<>king mommy" though, and that was only a few years earlier. The irony - this movie is actually a lot better than The Ring Two, which was mediocre to say the least.
