The obvious solution is to put guns in all videogames & porn to balance out their harmful effects.

I thought you liked things that go "bang." Or is it just that you don't agree with civilians owning them?

First those Florida teenagers watch 17 classmates getting killed, now their lawmakers are trying to take away their video games and porn. It's like they're being punished for getting shot at. This is, of course, a bunch of grade-a bullshit. I don't know what cause of and solution to gun violence is, but I damn sure know it doesn't involve porn and video games, two of the best stress-relievers out there.

In other news:
Shark attacks are on the rise, in Australia they have erected shark nets to protect the people, in American swimmers are being issued with sharks to protect them from other sharks.

Porn profits off real people being abused/forced/deceived into depravity and trains others to objectify them. It's indefensible, and you are part of the problem if you don't see how it's bad.
Video games, no matter how violent, are fictional and not in the same category. If people are influenced by video games to such an extent, then their mind has gone long before they played the game itself.
Guns - yep, Americans are (at best) mentally insane with their obsession and worship of weapons of death. And politicians who say guns are not the problem have blood on their hands.
So yeah, don't worry, there's plays of room for both libs and cons on the "this is what's wrong with society" table.

Wait! I have a better one. In Australia two small boys are fighting with sticks. Here we take away the sticks. (eye poking and loss, small scratches etc) In America, they give the small boys guns.

Fictional, no real person is being hurt or abused no matter what happens in a video game. Now, with the advancement of virtual reality and other technology, it is an interesting question just how far they will go in the future until the experience becomes almost indistinguishable from the real thing, and how that can affect a developing human psyche. The Icarus warning should not be forgotten.

The Icarus warning should not be forgotten. The reason I ask is that video games of real events are in a lot of ways real, and they would have the same desensitizing effect. Which is the issue really, yes who gets hurt is important, but the issue is desensitization to violence. Virtual reality was my next step, that can have some scary onflow.

Very true1 I haven't forgotten that you are also a feminist. Correct. I didn't teach mine to be a victim. Oddly enough, learning about guns since she was five has ended up with her never committing a crime with a gun.

Porn profits off real people being abused/forced/deceived into depravity and trains others to objectify them. Not since the 70s. The industry is far removed from the days of Linda Lovelace. It doesn't need to abuse/force/deceive anyone, and in fact it has pretty good reasons not to (too much competition). As for "train(ing) others to objectify them," nature did that when it gave us sex drives.
