So I thought this was just supposed to be a cute moment between brother and sis... But apparently it's a reference to some stupid obscure meme from a few years ago?
WTF? That is so cheap and tacky. These movies should avoid stooping so low, even if it is just one line. I mean, who the *beep* is going to remember some retarded meme in 5-10 years?

Yep. I sighed after she said it and I wanted to smack whoever approved it to be used in the script.

I don't think that meme is quite as famous as some people seem to think.
Did someone in Black Panther scream "WHAT ARE THOOOOOOOOOOSE!!!!!"?

Quite possibly the dumbest, tackiest "pop culture" reference ever put into a blockbuster movie. Seriously! Blcokbusters of old like Jurassic Park or Star Wars would never stoop this low for a cheap laugh.

It ain't that deep, fish man. I don't know, Skull Man. I think it's pretty damn tacky. Referencing a Vine video in a movie like this is beyond cringeworthy.

C’mon, Akbar - if you didn’t know the meme there would have been no harm done. She’s a sixteen-year-old girl... and the meme bothered you but two extended shots of human feet didn’t? I hate feet. #AkbarNationForever

I hate feet. #AkbarNationForever I'm sorry, my friend. I will not budge on this matter! I find pop culture references in general to be tacky as they date the movie and pander to the audience in the cheapest way. But to reference an Internet meme is the lowest of the low. These movies should have more respect for themselves than that. It's like that awful shake weight gag in Thor 3. There's clearly some asshat at Marvel that thinks pandering to the lowest common denominator of dim wit millennials is a good idea. It makes me sick! #SkullManRocks! #DiadeMuertosPorTodos!

Even if it was a reference to some meme, it's just a joke. People in real life make references to pop culture memes all the time. It's not as it it were some sort of a trap

But I'm not being hypocritical here. I HATE that Tarzan yell for the same exact reasons. Although it's not nearly as cringeworthy as including some short lived joke from YouTube. BP referenced Back to the Future but I'm not complaining about that. Alsp the truly obnoxious Star Wars stuff comes in the new trilogy. Like when Luke does the brushoffyourshoulder thing...
