Anybody ever buy these? They're great, and super convenient if you want a good thick slice of ham without having to buy a much larger ham.

We have a similar thing here and I occasionally buy them. They come in a pack of three and are 1cm (5/8 inch) thick. They are precooked so I cook them by frying quickly in a skillet with some pineapple juice until browning and deliciously caramelised on the outside and heated through on the inside. (don't overcook) I also fry the pineapple slices (canned or fresh) in a little butter along side. I then serve with boiled new potatoes or mash and a couple of green steamed veg. Delicious. An alternative is to cook some Granny Smithc apples to serve with them as I love fruit with pork. YUM!!!!

...I only wish you could buy smaller cuts...the instructions state you must use the product within days of opening it. Since I live alone, a large portion of a one inch large slab of ham will go to waste.

They're closer to 1/2". Still pretty good size, though. So yeah, use what you can, and freeze the rest for later use.

...thanks for the "freeze" advice. I can only hope that a thawed piece of a ham steak will taste as good as a fresh cut portion...

I just purchased a Sugardale Prestige smoked ham steak. I will try the "freeze" option because this ham steak is too big to eat at one sitting.

I started freezing ham after Christmas when I had too much. It worked out OK with only a slight difference in the texture. If you follow my advice with frying it in butter and pineapple juice, it is totally delicious.
