6/10.
A fun campy adventure that I don’t quite love.

Saw it in a cinema in 86. Didnt like it. Was expecting something more like an old fashioned adventure, not Kurt Russell playing a dumb John Wayne wannabe.

"Well, ya see, I'm not saying that I've been everywhere and I've done everything, but I do know it's a pretty amazing planet we live on here, and a man would have to be some kind of FOOL to think we're alone in THIS universe."
One of the most quoteable, enjoyable and funniest films ever made. While maybe not the best film made during the many collaborations between Kurt Russell and John Carpenter, it sure is my favorite one. I am probably being a bit too "generous" with my rating, but what the hell, it is one of those rare films I have seen probably a little far too many times, but still I never seems to go tired of.
10/10

6/10 and I agree completely with Gruffimus Prime's assessment.

Funny, he played a Clint Eastwood wannabe in Escape from New York. True but he wasn't a dumb clown in that one. Yeah, I thought the Clint Eastwood impression in EFNY worked well. I guess I didn't take the John Wayne impression in BTILC too seriously because it was just a goofy comedy.

I watched it in the totally wrong way when it came out, expecting an Indiana Jones like adventure. So I guess watching it for what it is, high camp it's far more entertaining.
