I concentrate primarily on the Abrahamic religions, but I can usually find something interesting about any of them.
A while back I was reading stuff about the Andorians (you know, those pushy, bossy, and suspicious blue guys on Star Trek). It said that the Andorians believe in an afterlife, but they also believe that it isn't meant to be understood in this life. I thought that was cool.

I am a big fan of the history of magic and the European work in that field. I like the stories and epic adventure of Greek/Roman and Norse religion.

FLDS and fundamentalist Islam. I'm really interested in the mindsets and psychologies of those religious fundamentalists who sequester themselves away from mainstream society.
It's never really the religions themselves that I find interesting, more the followers of those religions and how they can think that way.
In terms of cultural preferences, reform Judaism is my favourite (the type that you always see practiced by Jewish characters on US TV shows). I like their traditions.

However, here goes: Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Baha'i, Islam, Confucianism, Sikhism, Vodou, Wicca, Zoroastrianism, Manaeaism, Cargo cults, Romany (Gypsy), Bonism, And a whole bunch of others.

I find all religions interesting for the reason that I think it was Mic stated, that I am fascinated by the psychology of how and why people think the way that they do. I especially love the history of it and the evolution of psychological and philosophical thought as it applies to religion, society and culture, through time.
However the one that fascinates me the most is Buddhism because of the uniqueness of its philosophy which resonates with my own personal philosophy. I love the exploration of the inner person, mind and body, mindfulness and the responsibility that it places on each of us to be the captain of our own ship without necessarily resorting to outside influences such as a 'god' controlling figure. I am not Buddhist and don't subscribe to any of its religious practices, just the ideas that I can take into my own experience and world view. It is also one of the more peaceful religions.

The Amish are one strand of Anabaptists that came out of the Radical Reformation, but they are by no means the only. I would say most Anabaptists look like regular people. It's more the philosophy that interests me.

I asked as I've always had a soft spot for the Amish and have great admiration for their way of life, moral values and sense of community.

For sure. I remember some Amish school got shot up and that community immediately issued a statement announcing that they didn't want themselves or anyone else to hate the killer, but that he should be loved and forgiven. It was one of the most Christlike responses to an act of monstrous violence that I've ever seen. And then, they even went out of their way to comfort the killer's family after he offed himself. Unreal. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Nickel_Mines_School_shooting#Amish_community_responseI'd say most modern Anabaptists are philosophically in line with the Amish (in terms of being modest, focusing on community, believing in the separation of church and state, and all that good stuff), but they just don't dress like they're from the 1800s and don't see the need to abstain from modern technology.

Yeah I remember when that tragedy was first reported. Still infuriates and disgusts me to this day. What sort of lowlife scumbag would you have to be to perpetrate such a horrific pointless act on any group, let alone on a community as harmless as that.

Apparently the guy lost his daughter like 10 years prior and developed a severe hatred for God. According to some of the people who survived, they said he told them that he was trying to "get even" with God by killing them.
