In all fairness to Kristen Wiig, when Heath Ledger was announced as the Joker not a lot of people were excited or happy about that casting choice. Infact there were a lot of pissed off fanboys. And look at how that turned out. Ledger performance is now considered to be the best or one of the best joker's. I don't know if wiig will make a good cheetah or not, but I say let's give her a shot, yes? I never had a problem with the Heath Ledger casting because he had already proven he could be a good, serious actor. Casting Kristen Wiig as Cheetah is on a whole different level. Every time she speaks, people will be waiting for the joke. Maybe that's WB's idea? Anything is possible at this point. Maybe they want WW2 to be like Ragnarok or something?!!?  Because as we all know comedic actors can't play serious parts well, right? |

Wiig isn't my first or second or even third choice when I think of who could be Cheetah in a movie, but if Patty Jenkins sees something in her then I trust her judgement. Before Monster came out a lot of people only thought of Charlize Theron as "that hot chick" despite her showing some serious chops in past roles, but after that movie she won the Academy Award and is now one of the most respected actresses in the industry today and is taken very seriously.
We have also seen many comedic actors transition into serious and acclaimed performers over the years, Michael Keaton and Jim Carrey immediately spring to mind.

I can live with Wiig playing the role. It will be ok if the story and action are good and the climax isn't an overblown CGI fest with lots of bodies crashing through walls and a ring of trash in the sky.
