Glass Onion What did you think of this movie Pike? Did you enjoy it? Mostly enjoyable, the opening is straight outta Last of Sheila (which is a good thing). I confidently predicted the villain and the ending was a shark jumper, over the top whoosh. But I'd cautiously recommend it. Knives Out was better.

God, Craig's hammy, awful accent gave me the pip. And the characters are so unappealing. Glossy shite. Knives Out had a better cast (not to mention a superior script) and was quite fun, but this is so shallow and unconvincing. If Glass Onion constitutes a success, I fear for the future of the flailing film industry.

Dishonored Lady(1947) Hedy Lamarr as a successful, but promiscuous and unhappy woman, sees a psychiatrist and tries to change her ways. 5½/10.

You've Got Mail 1998 directed by Nora Ephron Old-fashioned romantic comedy that is nothing new if you've seen The Shop Around the Corner 1940 and/or In the Good Old Summertime 1949. It works rather well thanks to the charm of the stars. Funny how the once state-of-the-art computers now looks and sounds ancient, remember the modem's buzzing sound before they connected.

The Personal History of David Copperfield 2019 directed Armando Iannucci A modern re-thinking and dissection of a famous Dickens' novel. Not to my taste.

Professor Marston & the Wonder Women (2017) The story of College Professor, inventor, and creator of the Wonder Woman character William Marston, who, along with his college professor wife, develops a scandalous relationship with a young student research assistant(Bella Heathcote). Interesting and well acted all around. 8/10.

THE EXECUTIONER OF VENICE 1963 -- standard historical intrigue story given a huge boost in production value by filming inside Venice. Lex Barker is the son of the Doge of Venice and set to marry--but Guy Madison is the Grand Inquisitor and wants her for himself--thus he schemes to get Barker into trouble. As these stories go--usually the way it works is that the dying father reveals that his son was adopted and then dies, and the son takes over. Well that doesn't happen here--yes Barker is adopted but in fact, the Doge gets healthier by the end and so there's no passing of the torch. Also, when Barker meets his real father, they cut away so we don't get any dramatic emotional reunion (because they wanted to use it for a surprise finale where the executioner reveals his true identity).
