That's 2 out of touch with the world liberals for you. I don't know why people still think Colbert is funny. He's a real dick too from what I heard. Jlaw is not much better either.

Did anybody else here also see that ? yes. i thought it was odd/sad not so funny. i kept thinking its staged (it must be, right?) why would she do that (and what a lightweight, has she not eaten anything before that show all day?) and as much as found it "interesting" to watch, i didnt find it funny. i like colbert less and less. i went to see the taping of his show once and it was an AFWUL experience, made me not watch his show for about a month after that…

It was most likely staged. Old time broadcasters like CBS generally don't allow alcoholic beverages to be consumed on air.

i went to see the taping of his show once and it was an AFWUL experience, made me not watch his show for about a month after that… Do tell! they make you wait in line for like 2 hours before you are allowed to enter into the theater auditorium. and no, you cannot just come a little before the show starts and get in. you MUST be there 2 hours prior, they check your ticket/id/whatever/stamp you like cattle, then tell you to wait in the line in a specific spot they give you, and then you just stand there like an idiot for a couple of hours. at that point you cannot leave the building really, you can either give up and go and not return, or you can wait inside while his crowd control people give you suggested bathroom breaks. i couldnt believe this. i presumed some of it was for security reasons, but how much different is going to a taping of colberts show than going to any other live show with celebrities or important people in it? in NYC you go to events like that all the time and you are never forced to wait in a line for couple of hours, just standing somewhere, unless YOU want to because YOU care about a particular seat. but if you dont care where you sit or you have assigned seating, you just get there when you get there, you go through security like everybody, and its never an issue like this, be it madison square garden or a small broadway theatre. this was ridiculous. and the worst part is they play you old colbert shows clips while you wait in the line in the lobby, and there is a life-size colbert cut out in the hallway smiling at you and you just want to punch it out of frustration. when i was there there was also very poor AC and it was in the summer so it was real bad. anyway, after they let you in, they give you a briefing on when to clap, when to yell his name and what signals they are going to give you indicating when you should stand up and when you should chant and what. its crazy. i mean its safe to presume that most if not all people are there BECAUSE they like Colbert so they would have clapped and cheered on their own I presume, and I get this is a live taping, but it felt So forced! They just went overboard with the orders and managing people on how and when to show they are having fun. at one point the stage manager ordered us all to stand and chant "steven, steven, steven". I really didnt feel like it at that point, after all the waiting and forced clapping etc, so i just chanted "stalin, staling, stalin". Nobody seemed to care. perhaps its just me. i dont respond well to authoritarian regimes. blame the growing up under the communist regime for that. :-) never again for me.

It wasn't staged. In another interview after the Colbert show she said she had been served alcohol when taping another show just before she appeared on his, so she already had a buzz going when he brought out the rum by surprise.
