One of the greatest movies of all time, King Kong, was unleashed upon the world on this day in 1933!  Happy birthday, ya big ape!

30-odd years ago, I saw Kong in person at a LACMA exhibit of sci-fi/fantasy film props...what was left of him, anyway: his steel armature "skeleton" standing roughly 18-20 inches high, with only the odd bits of foam rubber and fur still clinging to a limb here or there.
Quite memorable, even if he wasn't half the man ape he used to be.

Anyone whoever says "Those chains are made of chrome steel" I will never trust for the rest of my life!!!!
All species they killed along the way to find Fay Wray, they could have take them back too to show at some show in New York too. but No! just kill Kill Kill. LOL after all some of the species they met was from old dinousars periods...
One shouldn't think practical, I Know... It's only movies

It's the last of the dinosaurs...LET'S KILL THEM AND TAKE THE BIG MONKEY HOME TO NEW YORK CITY!" Made no sense, but you just go with it.

The only other item I remember specifically from that exhibit was the Close Encounters mother ship. But even considerably slimmed down, it was Kong leaving the strongest impression.
