If you liked the first movie, I'd give it a watch. Just don't expect it to be the same in tone as its predecessor.

Original. 2 did inspire a great Key and Peele sketch, though.

Gremlins. Part 2 was fun when I was a kid, & while it plays amazingly a bit like The Muppet Show, it simply doesn't hold as much weight. Gremlins is easily in the 80's list of secondary quintessential movies. Hell, I remember when Gremlins & Barbie convertible Corvettes went hand in hand.

They should make a "GREMLINS 3" and bring back Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates, Dick Miller, and Jackie Joseph for it.

I re-watched Gremlins 2 about 6 months ago and I was very bored during the second half. The self-parody stuff just falls completely flat for me. At first it's kind of fun but the more it goes on and the more extreme the humor gets the less entertaining it is. Actually, I don't think it's really boring at all. It's a very fun sequel no doubt, almost as fun as the original. Just not as good in quality. I know YOU don't think it's boring, but I do. I don't think it's much fun, even though it tries to be. There are 2 main reasons this movie doesn't work for me. 1. I don't find the gremlins all that interesting. They work in the first film because they aren't the main characters and they are fun in SMALL doses. The novelty wears off very fast in the second film. 2. I am not a fan of parody movies and this movie goes full blown self parody in the second half. I HATE the scene with Hulk Hogan for example and a handful of other scenes. The film could have been fun if it were more like the first movie but in a skyscraper and that is why I do enjoy the first 30 minutes of the film before it becomes gremlin overkill. I feel pretty much the same way that Siskel & Ebert do about the film. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcR0neHTSIA
