Just like last year, here's a thread where we can talk about the Oscars so we don't have many threads at the same time tomorrow. Does anyone have any unusual predictions as to who will win tomorrow?

I hope Moonlight wins again this year, that'd really be a surprise!

In revenge, Wonder Woman will declare war on the Academy and have her Amazons sweep the auditorium and rob the men of their members.

I think for this year, a lot of nominees that you think will win are very likely to win.

ck100While it's not always predictable... ain't those experts online who predict the front runners etc largely correct in general? because it seems looking around online that the following are pretty much expected to win... Best Picture = Three Billboards or The Shape of Water (if anything else wins I think it will be a surprise) Actor (leading) = Gary Oldman (seems to be the clear cut front runner here) Actress (leading) = Frances M Director = Guillermo Del Toro Actor (supporting) = Sam Rockwell etc so while they could be wrong, as there might be some surprises, I would expect that largely the general word will probably be accurate. that's usually the case with Oscars, right? (I have not looked into the details and I am sure the experts are wrong here and there but from a guess I would imagine they are right a large chunk of the time).

Last chance for people to predict big surprise wins. I think Original Screenplay is really unpredictable at the moment. And it may seem like a clear win for del Toro, but I don't think it's impossible that the Best Director award will go to someone else. Same goes for Best Picture.

You know they're gonna throw a bone to Get Out somewhere. Funny, yesterday there was an awards show, and Lady Bird actually beat out Get Out in the screenplay category even though Get Out won Best Picture there.

Every year Denzel loses adds days, maybe weeks to my life. Can't wait to watch him lose again. I hope they keep the camera on him when they read the winner. who hurt you? lemme guess. a black guy?

I have a feeling that DUNKIRK will come away with the biggie. I didn't really like it or enjoy it, but I think Nolan's time has come. LADY BIRD is all hype. If it wasn't directed by a woman, I doubt there would be much love for it. It is a minor little film about a quirky girl coming of age, whoop de doo! Quite frankly, I found the film insipid and uninspired. The performances were ok with what they worked with, but other than that it was a nothing film. If it wasn't nominated for picture or director, I might hold a little more respect for the film with it's acting and script nominations. It doesn't deserve to stand tall with other deserving films in the 2 majors, or those that have gone un-nominated and were deserving. I haven't seen DARKEST HOUR or PHANTOM THREAD yet of the picture nominees, but LADY BIRD and GET OUT are my 2 least favorites of the other 7 I have seen. They are also the pc nods amongst the company. Funny that! you are the second person today who says that, that dunkirk will win. i cannot get on board with that one but it would certainly be a big surprise and i would maybe like it more than if Lady Bird got it.

I would expect Dunkirk to win some technical categories. Maybe in cinematography too. Best Picture = Three Billboards or The Shape of Water (if anything else wins I think it will be a surprise) Actor (leading) = Gary Oldman (seems to be the clear cut front runner here) Actress (leading) = Frances M Director = Guillermo Del Toro Actor (supporting) = Sam Rockwell Those are also my best predictions too.

I managed to get about 3.5 hours of sleep and I just woke up to watch the Oscars. I might be able to get another hour of sleep after the Oscars, but it won't be much. It better be worth it, I want something unexpected to happen.

Hey, why don't they have a stand or a table or something to place the award on top of? While they're making their speech, it seems odd to just put it on the floor.
