Congrats The Shape of Water. I got 22 out of the 24 categories right. wow. Amazing. congrats. Which ones did you mess up? I messed up Best and Or Screenplay had the right ones as potential upset, but decided to go with my heart instead of the math. AGAIN. Aargh. Thanks. I got live action short & documentary wrong.

Thanks. I got live action short & documentary wrong. wow i am so jealous you got the best and screenplay right! I kept debating myself till the very last minute on these two, but then went with what I felt was more deserving. Even though the odds for Get Out to win were overwhelmingly ahead already. Oh well. Next year.

i am officially sad now. Shape of Water was so not the best movie this year. Oh well… 18 out of 20, I guess I can live with that. Will have to, anyway…. It was an original, different and unusual one though, and a brave choice. When I saw the "in memoriam" segment and saw Jonathan Demme, and then Jodie Foster was co-presenting actress, I had a hunch about Shape then. The last horror themed film to win picture was Silence Of The Lambs 26yrs ago. It seemed to coincide and even has a similar symbolic title. I am not complaining here. yeah, it was a good movie, i gave it 8/10 so I am not hating on it. Its just that I loved Three Billboards that much more . Also I dont like to be wrong in my predictions

My signal went out during the memoriam segment and stayed gone. I was gonna post a reaction video and everything. Oh well.
Anyway, fairly predictable year. Knew Shape of Water was winning when Three Billboards got snubbed for Director. Biggest surprise was Jordan Peele getting Screenplay, which was nice.
Happy for my boys Gary Oldman and Roger Deakins finally winning.

Also I dont like to be wrong in my predictions 3 Billboards had a more grounded setting and strong themes, but nice that a fantasy\fable which still touched on strong themes of bigotry, prejudice and egoism, and was able to skillfully wrap them up with an unusual love story is very much a keeper too. Both films were art. McDormand seemed a bit confused and off key in her speech about women in Hollywood. I'm not so sure what she meant by her last words...inclusion, writer??? yes you are right. thats true that its a miracle that a fantasy, moreover of this sort made it as a best picture. i was not a fan of her speech. not sure i got it either.

Well, buzz online Get Out is 'the only nominee still remembered 5yrs from now'.
With all due respect, that's the stupidest argument of the Oscars & always has been a peeve of mine. The Oscars are -not- awarding people & productions that may have the greatest chance at future buzz... the Oscars are nothing more than awarding art in their finite year of production. I despise the 'which movie should've won 35yrs ago?' Please stfu. The voters in that year were different, the audiences were different, the values were different, etc etc. Stop projecting present thoughts on the past of a f'ing arts awards show lols, & the same goes for projecting into the future.
Yeah, a lot of ppl probably don't have Birdman on their blu library shelf at home... and?

Couldn’t tell from Nolan’s face. Was he proud Del Toro won, disappointed, or he didn’t give a crap.

Wow they even bungled the memorial segment. People like Adam West (friggin Batman); Tobe Hooper; Powers Boothe; John Mahoney; and Robert Guillaume weren't included. I don't want to sound like an asshole (if so, oh well) but I'm just not interested in seeing what agents or producers or whoever passed on as much as certain actors or directors. Either make it longer or cut something out.

I'm not so sure what she meant by her last words...inclusion, writer??? .....she said: "inclusion rider" as in a contract. Many contracts have "riders" in them....for instance The Rolling Stones used to have a rider to have a case of Jack Daniels in Keith Richards dressing room each night of a concert. If they failed to meet these obligations, it meant the contract was broken.

Indeed. Good to see her. Here's a thought. Instead of comedians and talk show hosts, let Hollywood legends host the awards ceremonies. Yes, and those newbies that don't know of them, can learn to revere the masters. Exactly.

It's Mark Hamill, baby! Dude's a legend in his own time. Pity he wasn't able to fully shake off his Luke Skywalker image. The ultimate typecasting. Plenty of charisma and the boy next door looks and charm to boot. With a good director at the helm, he could have really proven some acting chops. you know what, i think his time may still come. I really believe he will be offered more and more chances, he did step out of his luke-box a bit already with Kingsmen and I wouldn't be surprised if in the next 10 years or so he was on the very same stage but this time accepting the award. i said this about Sam Rockwell after Charlies Angels, and hey, it only took what…18 years and bingo :-) I would have predicted the same for Jim Carrey had he not given up acting. Now not sure. And I absolutely would bet my money on Adam Sandler getting an Oscar before he dies. This year he came fairly close to a nomination in Mayerowitz Stories, had it not been Netflix who made it, it could have been a different story. Hes got the potential, now "confirmed" by directors like PTA and Noah Baumbach. He will make it there. if he wants to that is.
