I noticed they had Emma Stone present Best Director rather than Best Actor; probably hoping that will make it less conspicuous that Casey Affleck won't be presenting Best Actress.

bravo. He really did do a great job in the Darkest Hour. Amazing performance. He should have also gotten it for TTSS though…

Now he is next to Meryl... They brought him from the backstage. Glad for Oldman!

Gary Oldman - a career decision and tonight's foregone formality. He's been campaigning vigorously for this for years with the weight of the UK conservative politicos behind him.

It's just that I was surprised we hadn't seen him before. They showed the others but now for the Best Actor in the lead role they brought him in the first row next to Meryl. At the Golden Globes it was quite obvious he was no contender. He was sitting in the second section, were spectators are while all the others were in the main one, in front. His best chance was last year for Fences, not for Roman J. Israel Esq.

Frances McDormand is a terrific actress, a formidable talent, and a fine lady. So happy she joins presenter Jodie Foster as a 2-time Best Actress Oscar winner in addition to her many achievements in cinema, television and theatre.

Streep was on autopilot. agreed, I am glad Frances won, I also think she was the best, but I wasnt bothered by any of the contenders. all were very good. Meryl had little to play, but what she had she handled very well.
