The negatives of smoking weed are miniscule so there's no comparison. From the very start I admitted weed can be bad if abused. Why would I ask you to show me something I already knew? You stated "but no amount of educating will stop weed from doing damage to adolescent brains." So I presumed you er re saying all weed no matter the amount or frequency causes damage. I don't call a loss of 8 IQ points a "minuscule" negative, but whatever you want to tell yourself. From the very start you said "There's nothing wrong with kids doing drugs and drinking," and ever since I proved that was false you've been moving the goalposts in order to deflect from that fact. What I meant by "but no amount of educating will stop weed from doing damage to adolescent brains" is the same thing I'd mean by "no amount of educating will stop teens from getting pregnant" or "...stop people from driving drunk" or whatever. Education doesn't stop people from being stupid; it can only help reduce the number of stupid people. Besides, we don't know what (if any) amount is "safe" for teenagers. Until we know, keeping it illegal under a certain age is prudent. "ever since I proved that was false you've been moving the goalposts in order to deflect from that fact." When I said that I presumed you would assume I went when used safely. Just like when someone says "People should be allowed to marry who the want" we assume they aren't saying a 30 year old should be allowed to marry an 8 year old. "Education doesn't stop people from being stupid; it can only help reduce the number of stupid people." Why punish people for the misdeeds of a few idiots? We don't go around banning sex because some people get STDs, do we? "we don't know what (if any) amount is "safe" for teenagers. Until we know, keeping it illegal under a certain age is prudent." Considering if you smoke weed weekly you loose only 8 IQ points I doubt smoking it occasionally would really do anything. Either way we should be doing tests to see what's all right and what isn't.

Fight club is arguably the most overrated movie of all time. Not sure about 'of all time', but it definitely got more praise than it deserved. It's a perfectly fine quirky movie...and that's it. Only 8 movies have a higher rating on IMDb, all considerably better than Fight club. It also has one of the biggest cult followings of any movie.

I read it as you wrote it. You REALLY didn't read that other article I wrote, did you? If you want to say that the pros of freedom of choice outweigh the negatives, that's fine. What's wrong is pretending like the negatives don't exist. People should stop making this rationalization. It's not a "punishment" in trying to prevent harm to millions. It would be like saying "why make texting and driving illegal if some people can do it smartly and not get into an accident?" We've simply decided as a society that the costs outweigh the benefits on that one. I think the same is true of teens doing drugs/drinking.

Back to unpopular opinions.
The Coen brothers make boring movies. They'd be the most overrated filmmakers if Christopher Nolan didn't exist.

Back to unpopular opinions. god, thank you! this was not a thread you'd expect to be hijacked. I loved Dave Malucci on ER and was pissed they didn't do more with his character. making him strive to be a better doctor with a better bedside manner. he was like fluent in Spanish when very little people on the show/in the er were. Kerry weaver fired him because of her nonsense. i hate people who don't fess up when they screw up and someone else's job and life is on the line. some 'ethnic' people [of a different race or whatever] are very vocal about how they hate the stereotypes that are pinned to their ethnicities... yet EMULATE THE STEREOTYPES! WAKE UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP YOU ASSHOLESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

The Ben Stone era of 'Law & Order' is better than the Jack McCoy era.

Me neither. Apparently Lugh is a compulsive liar whose unpopular opinions can safely be dismissed. Ok let me retract that. All teenagers that aren't squares do. Nothing is more square than doing something you don't want to do because you're worried people will think you're square.
