Seeing as how the Oscars are tonight, I figured it was worth asking to see what the general consensus is on which of the nine films that have been nominated for Best Picture are most deserving of the award. So which movie should take the award home?

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is worthy and has the widest appeal amongst the academy, it seems like a given...but then again, the last two winners seemed to come up from behind the favorite to snag the Oscar.

I haven't sen all the movies nominated but we all know Get Out will win. It's a solid genre movie but unremarkable and honestly very derivative. It's not even the best horror movie from last year but it allows white liberals that NEVER interact with anyone swarthy to suck each others dicks over how "enlightened they are. The smugness and self congratulating over Get Out winning will allow white libs to keep scary non whites far far far away from the libs families with nary a feeling of guilt or hypocrisy for at least a decade.

Yep, Get Out will win. I’d be very surprised if it didn’t

Dunkirk, but unfortunately it has an almost 0% chance of winning.

Three Billboards is my runner up btw. It tells such a human story in a way where everyone can relate to it in one way or another. The writing is just incredible and I think the film speaks to everyone who watches it.

I’m surprised there haven’t been any votes for Get Out so far.

The Shape of Water (my vote) will be the truly bold choice, but in the plus-5 era, del Toro will probably get best director while another movie wins.

Of the five I've seen, I liked The Post the best. But I don't name the winner. I'd say either Three Billboards or Darkest Hour. Haven't seen Phantom Thread, Get Out or Shape of Water. Yeah, I haven't seen the "coming of age" nominees that the Academy gets squishy for every year.

I'd say Three Billboards, with HM to Get Out and Dunkirk. But the movie that has probably stuck with me the most from last year is the un-nominated Florida Project.

Call Me by Your Name or Lady Bird.
Three Billboards would be an acceptable choice, too.

And those are the types of people Get Out was making fun of. Sadly most critics missed that entirely as did many viewers. After I watched it I was puzzled over why ZERO critics mentioned that white liberals were satirized to perfection and made to look quite clueless. Then I realized many white liberals are actually so clueless the idea that they might not be seen as saviors to all us poor swarthy folks never occurs to them. Perhaps if more of them actually had conversations with non whites the truth would come crashing down over their heads. At this point I don't think Jordan Peele would admit it he was throwing shade (albeit good natured shade) on white folks since the movie is the most important film of all time. JP can't admit he thought he was making a horror comedy when the people that were the objects of the comedy have branded him a genius auteur. I really can't blame him but it's still a bit disappointing.

The Shape of Water (my vote) will be the truly bold choice, but in the plus-5 era, del Toro will probably get best director while another movie wins. Yes, and if a film with a horror theme undercurrent is to win, Shape would take the pip over Get Out any day. Get Out is a mediocrity and compared to the last film with a horror\thriller theme that won, Silence Of The Lambs-91', Get Out doesn't even come close. Personally, I would like to see Call Me By Your Name win, but I think that is too much of a long shot. Also, a bland gay and black themed movie won picture last year. I have an feeling that Dunkirk may walk off with either picture, director or both.
