Nothing to do with politics. The choices are 4 hours tonight vs 15 seconds on Wikipedia tomorrow. #dothemath.

I'm watching Counterpart, The Chi and either Homeland or The Walking Dead instead. The first 2 are both new shows but really good. The other 2 used to be good but not so much any more. Anything is better than the self congratulating sjw circle jerk of the Oscars.

All things considered, it went well. No major controversies of any kind.

I like to watch it, even if it can drag on and it's only once a year for the industries top honor. I have seen so many now, I know what to expect. One can always watch other stuff any other time.

Good. You shouldn't watch that trash. You shouldn't even waste 15 seconds looking at it on Wikipedia. You actually care about the results?

This year's Oscars was all about celebrating mediocre films and interviewing/discussing about convicted assholes while pretending that sexual harassment doesnt exist

Agreed. It's once a year. And it's the year's biggest awards. I'm already looking forward to next year's. Me too! I found last years perhaps more enjoyable for some reason— it was perhaps seeing La La Land lose out in many categories—but it is what it is and they make it more real now. It's not so much about an elitist star glamour event and they tend to acknowledge it's the normal movie goers that give them their status.

This year's Oscars was all about celebrating mediocre films and interviewing/discussing about convicted assholes while pretending that sexual harassment doesnt exist Whether sexual harassment exists or not was not the point of it. It's not going to change anything. They made some obvious and tactful references to what has been going on, but ultimately, it was about celebrating the films they did have on offer. I also found the quality of films being represented were of a higher standard than usual.

Besides, the National Parks marathon on National Geographic Channel is more fun. I was watching that. The photography was good, but the narration often bordered on the stupid. And the editing was a bit too creative at times.

Good. You shouldn't watch that trash. You shouldn't even waste 15 seconds looking at it on Wikipedia. You actually care about the results? I don't think many fans actually 'care' about the results. It's just fun to watch and not to be taken too seriously by the fans. The industry, however takes it very seriously. And for the record, I watched and enjoyed most of it, but it once again ran way over schedule.

I didn't watch the whole circle jerk, but I saw the first five or so awards. After that, I fell asleep.
