Leisurely paced comedy with a good cast. At times it moves too slow such as one noticeable scene with Niven and the incredibly beautiful Claudia Cardinale. Peter Sellers seems for most to be a secondary character to the Phantom (David Nivens) or maybe that was just me, but he stole every scene he was in, his comedic timing is brilliant here and even more so when you realize these are not heavily edited scenes. They are very long takes. His wife in the film is also outstanding, played by the actress Capucine, in fact so good I had to look her up, only to discover her tragic ending. Also is yet another actress/singer I didn't know, Fran Jeffries, who appears in the middle of the film to sing and dance, she is mesmerizing. The score of the film is one everyone will recognize. 8/10

I gave it a seven. 'A Shot in the Dark' was a quantum improvement.

Sorry but it didn't yell with me, but the theme song has over the years become a well loved standard far beyond this movie. With the sax of Plas Johnson.

I think it’s great—I actually prefer it to A Shot in the Dark, which has some very funny scenes (the nudist colony is one of my favorite Edwards set-pieces) but doesn’t hang together well. Clouseau is indeed a supporting character, but an excellent one; the scene with him and Capucine in the bedroom is marvellous farce.

I have to admit that I get all the Pink Panther movies mixed up at times. However, all of them are quite funny.

I still prefer the more comedic sequels, yet this film's a decent starting point. David Niven (who was originally envisioned to be the lead) and Robert Wagner are entertaining villains while Peter Sellers gets in a good first appearance as Clouseau.

I am more of a fan of Return--Strikes Again-Revenge.
Herbert Lom and Burt Kwouk come into their own spotlight in those ones and Clouseau is more defined.

6.5/10 - I prefer the 70s Pink Panther movies (Return, Strikes Again, Revenge). This one is a bit slow.
