Sadly you may be right. I've read far too many posts on just this site from people thinking it's okay for adults to have sex with kids 14 or younger to laugh at your comment. Just look at all the people who think the relationship in ‘Call Me By Your Name’ is healthy and normal. Age of consent in Italy: 14 Age difference between Oliver and Elio in "Call Me By Your Name": 7 years If the story had been about Oliver being a teacher or an authority figure and having an affair with a 17 year old (male or female), then there'd be more of an issue. Call Me By Your Name is a summer romance that is fairly free of strife or conflict. Anyone want to put the money where their words are about any "love story" between an adult and underage person- in a greater age range- being so much as critically acclaimed! Oh, wait, there's already a movie called Lolita!

Oh, wait, there's already a movie called Lolita! 17 is the age of consent in a lot of US states as well. Not to mention there have been plenty of coming of age movies about teenage boys and older women, and nobody gives a flying fuck about those. People are hostile to this movie because it's two gays.

mrellaguruWho knows, their theories could be right as some people really like to read into movies meanings etc and come up with a bunch of stuff which may or may not be true. but badgarok725 said, who’s to say that his powers didn’t just create gills to heal her rather than heal gills that were once there (I just put the spoiler tags on for those who may not have seen the movie yet in here) p.s. in general... I don't usually read into movies too heavily like some people do.

Excellent news. Not Del Toro's best work (I still think that's Pan's Labyrinth), but it was very enjoyable.

I love all his stuff. Even Mimic is a fun romp with the kind of creature effects we've come to expect from Del Toro.
