I gotta admit The Murricane is a cool nickname for him. Bestowed upon him by Dan Aykroyd on account of his mood swings. Of course, Ghostbusters will always be close to my heart. Although I didn't care much for the movie, I think he should have won the Oscar for Lost in Translation. His dry wit and mellow nature seem to suit him well for his frequent work with Wes Anderson. His cameo in Zombieland provides his great response if having any regrets. There's also his performance in Kingpin, which is a thing of beauty.

I love Bill Murray.
But Groundhog Day bores me to tears. Nearly fell asleep in the theater.
I was simply floored the first time I saw it make a "Greatest comedies" lists...and that it keeps making them.

Some of my favorites:
Stripes Ghostbusters Quick Change What About Bob? Groundhog Day Lost in Translation
I can't think of Murray films I disliked, but I guess I'd put the Garfield ones at the bottom. Didn't he do a film with an elephant called Larger Than Life? I recall not liking that one too much.

Some of my favorites: What About Bob? Murray and Dreyfuss did not get along. See also the productions of Scrooged, Groundhog Day, and Charlie's Angels for other examples of tension on the set.

Ghostbusters 1, The Jungle Book, and What About Bob? are my favorites. The least enjoyable that I saw was Garfield and Aloha.

Caddyshack Kingpin Ghostbusters Broken Flowers Zombieland
Worst would be any of his Wes Anderson movies.
Has anyone here seen Rock the Casbah? How is it? It sounds, well I xon't know what to think of the description. Sounds like it could be an ok movie or really bad.

I remember Bill saying one of the reasons he did "Garfield" was because he thought the script was written by Ethan Coen of the Coen Brothers which wasn't true.

I have heard that he and Chevy Chase so disliked each other that they came to blows, or at least had a physical altercation behind the scenes of SNL. So strangely enough, per the doc Caddyshack: The Inside Story, the producers/writers realized that the two had no scenes together so they wrote one on the spot. The scene of Ty discovering Carl Spackler's living quarters, lots of improvisation..and they were very professional and civil to each other and had no problems, though they of course didn't socialize with each other.

He plays the same type of character all the time, which is a smart Ass dick. At least some of that has to be really him.

But I love Murray’s work with Ramis. And his role in Lost in Translation was good but I honestly think any older actor could pull off that role.

Same about Wes Anderson. I cannot get into Life Aquatic no matter how often I try. I'm hit and miss with Wes Anderson. I enjoyed Royal Tenenbaums and Darjeeling Unlimited, but I found Life Aquatic to be very slow and boring and Moonrise Kingdom to be too damn cute and whimsical.

You often hear the actors who play jerks are the nicest people in real life, but yeah.
