Anyone planning on seeing it in theaters? Hell no. I can't stand Oprah (or how she is ever written) and there is a pic of her in the movie...Jesus!

"...Critics Consensus: A Wrinkle in Time is visually gorgeous, big-hearted, and occasionally quite moving; unfortunately, it's also wildly ambitious to a fault, and often less than the sum of its classic parts..."

Its worse than that, judging by some reviews I've read--Entertainment Weekly: "listless, horrid flashbacks, horrible music score, disappointing mess, preachy dullness

A shame; it's a great children's book. It probably would have been better served with a low-budget television adaptation that relied more on the mind-bending core concepts of the book rather than flashy 3D cgi effects.

My viewing choices (in order of preference):
Throughbreds Gringo Black Panther
If forced to choose, I'd pick Wrinkle in Time over Hurricane Heist (real hurricanes have never gone 600 miles an hour on Earth).

Anyone planning on seeing it in theaters? saw it and it was really bad. multiple reasons. bad acting/casting (or directing the otherwise good actors, i cant decide which yet). weird production design. it looked incredibly badly done artistically, next to something as hyper modern and visually amazing as Black Panther for example. I realize they had half the budget, but still. The colors and the abundance of CGi that stood out as CGI just really bothered me. none of it felt real or even real within the fake worlds. there were 2 scenes that stood out visually (the girl climbing up the wall and then the red tunnel), the rest was just your average cgi tornado of phlegm. I rarely walk out of movies, and managed not to do so with this one, but at a great cost of not only being bored (that would be ok) but being actively ashamed of it. now, I have to add that I do like the director whom I see as someone very inspirational and I can imagine how extremely difficult it must have been to shoot this. And I quizzed some strangers in the cinema after the movie was over and they seemed to like it, and one woman said she felt inspired by it (having recently loss a family member). And I can see that. So the movie does have Some value. But mostly for kids, probably, or rare cinema-goers who are into this magical mystery plat and don't mind the atmosphere lacks in both magic and mystery.

It makes you want to ditch the movie and go read the book.

The problem is that they marketed it as just another YA novel movie.

This is what happens when you give a big budget movie to someone who has NO background in special effects or massive scale movie making. The director got the gig simply because she was BLACK and FEMALE.
