Haven't seen it yet but it seems to be getting pretty good reviews [apart from Matthew Bond in the UK Daily Mail]. mind you he's a bit of a twat anyway.

It was excellent. You can't go into it expecting some deeper meaning to the events of the film, tho. It's not a think piece, it's a creature feature. Kong kicks everyone's ass, and that's basically the plot.

If this were Rotten Tomatoes, I would recommend it(fresh). 6.5/10
EDIT: After two months, Kong has been kinda forgettable. I don't think I'll ever go back to rewatch it, but I'll watch Kong v Godzilla.
It's kind of like Jurassic World was for me...it was fun in the theater, but wasn't really a good movie at all. I'll never watch JW again either, but looking forward to the next one.

I missed depth in the human characters. Its not like I expected a lot of that but it was too little. The story was too thin. I liked Kong on screen and that was fine but overall I was dissapointed.

I loved it. It'll be a Day One purchase for me. And there aren't many of those for me anymore.

It was so-so. Apart from Kong himself, the movie had nothing else going for it.

For those here who have already seen "KONG: SKULL ISLAND", Did you Like It.....YES or NO ? Yes, It was cheesy fun.
The problem it had is that it lacked the charisma that other versions have had, where you feel something for the ape as he falls for the female lead and then gets treated like a freak (and is killed).
This one was more of a "super-hero" version of King Kong, basically created only to be put up against Godzilla in a future movie (Godzilla V. Kong: Dawn of Monsters lol).
Not brilliant or ground breaking in any way, but still fun though.

Honestly, the fate of Jack Chapman, and how they don't use him against (I'm just gonna say 'blank' to avoid spoilers) _blank_ when he goes nuts and wants to kill Kong. That would have been interesting to have those two together, from opposite sides with Jack just being like, "I just want to get home to my son" and to have him interact with the WWII pilot would have been awesome. Otherwise, I thought it was a pretty solid movie. J.C.R. pretty much stole it, however I liked it a lot and am looking forward to seeing the DVD.

it had the same problem as Godzilla 14 in that there was far too much focus on human characters who merited very little attention. unlike that one, though, this actually delivered the Monster goods.
