I'm waiting for The Revenge of the Nerds remake. It will be interesting to see if he gets her consent this time before having sex with her.

You're correct, as I just remade your post (bigger, better, blacker). Nothing is sacred.

It's arguable that many of those listed are not remakes and rather new takes on literature or historical events - The Thing, Three Musketeers, Robin Hood, Mutiny On The Bounty etc

Have they made a remake of 'Laura'. Not as a theatrical feature. There were two versions for television: A Portrait Of Murder - A 1955 episode of the 20th Century-Fox Hour. Laura - A 1968 long form for a 2-hour format; if memory serves, it was shot on videotape with multiple cameras, daytime-drama-style. Robert Stack and George Sanders played, respectively, Mark McPherson and Waldo Lydecker in both.

I would ask, "Wow, where have you been, living under a rock?", but when you think about it, it really is unfathomable how Hollywood doesn't have any brains or balls to come up with new material these days.
Seriously, somebody name me at least 3 movies last year that weren't even remotely related to anything else. Rather they be from comics, novels, TV shows, video games, a sequel/prequel or a remake/reboot. Hard, innit?

I donβt think it really has as much to do with balls or brains...but rather movie goers more often than not choosing the known rather than the unknown when going to buy their tickets. The proof is in the numbers. Kid friendly movies and popular franchises dominate ticket sales because people want to go see them, not because there are no other choices. Fate of the Furious was 12th...above Dunkirk, Get Out, Shape of Water, etc. People go see what they expect.

Read the trivia on IMDb for Heaven Can Wait (1978) for even more confusion about all the alternate versions and titles!

If people would just try and go see something different for a change, it might possibly spark a new trend where most movies are original ideas. Then again, that'll probably never happen.

They also left off Hunger Games which is a remake of Battle Royale.
