A burger smothered in gravy (the island) with fries all around (the sea).
It is not widespread, I have only seen it in a small town. I haven't tried it, as I don't like gravy.

Rabbit poutine at Lapin Saute in Quebec City was divine! I am going to Quebec City this weekend, so I might try that. I still regret to this day that I didn't try the Duck Vindaloo poutine that was on the menu of a restaurant in Chicago I went to, years ago.

I loved Quebec City when I went in September, 2016. Beautiful, charming little city. Rabbit PoutineI don't know if you've been there before, but it's in the lower part of the city. Have fun!

I've been to Quebec City many times - I live in Montreal, so it is just a three-hour drive for me. There was a time when I could get a very reasonable friends-and-family rate at the Chateau Frontenac (the huge hotel that is the city's landmark, in case you don't remember), so that is where I always stayed.

Very cool. Yeah, I recall you mentioning that you lived in Montreal, another favorite place of mine. I've only been to Quebec once. We hung out at the Hotel Frontenac, it's just a stunning place. The bar downstairs is magnificent and walking along the promenade is awesome, although maybe not this time of year. When we went we stayed at L'Hotel Du Vieux Quebec, a truly charming hotel just a few blocks from Frontenac. Last time we went to Montreal, we went to this place called Barroco that was just brilliant. One of the best meals I've had in recent years. It even turned me into an oyster fan, something that had evaded me for decades before that night. Terrific cocktails, perfectly charred grilled octopus, if you haven't been there I highly recommend it. For drinks, I really enjoyed Bar Cloakroom (a literal speakeasy behind a fake wall in a menswear shop), and N Sur Mackay. The latter was a more fun atmosphere, but the former had top notch concoctions.
