What I liked:
The premise of dopey-looking Harrelson being a hustler Wesley Snipes' performance The Yo Momma battle Raymond
What I didn't like: Rosie Perez and the relationship drama that dragged the film down with it. The ending.

I like the movie. Woody and Snipes work well together. I'm fine with Rosie Perez.

I have not seen that movie in over 20 years. But as far as i remember it was a good movie. It hasn't aged well at all. It's dated AF and as the OP said, the relationship story takes the film into a nose dive from which it never recovers. Snipes and Harrelson make it watchable, but it's not even among my favorite sports movies anymore.
