Monk - checked by salzmank - zilch
Perry Mason - Checked by alfromni - zilch - only concentrated on the 1970s "The New Perry Mason". An assumption that the old B/W ones (50s/60s) too old, and later ones too new. I'm also sure that had the episode been courtroom drama Salzmank would have remembered.

* --- Wiseguy is an American crime drama TV series that aired on CBS from September 16, 1987, to December 8, 1990, for a total of 75 episodes over four seasons. The series was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia to avoid the higher studio costs associated with filming in Los Angeles.
So could there be more Canadian crime seri set in California? Worth checking I guess.
------------
There are other crime shows, which are not really mysteries, but police dept. & street stories, e.g. Cagney & Lacey, Police Woman, Hunter, McCloud, Kojak, etc. etc., which are highly unlikely to carry the plot we seek, and thus I've ignored them. But please don't let that stop anyone else checking them.
============Query to
Nalkarj --- Could you have possibly seen this plot in a one-off TVM or even perhaps a feature movie?
Also something you wrote on an earlier post (Apr 26, 2020) got me thinking...
I don't believe the Columbo format went in for second murders. That's more in the line of Agatha Christie, Midsomer Murders, and other classic authors and formats. There may have been a couple of Columbo episodes where this occurred, but I don't recall them.
I've no doubt someone will tell me otherwise.
One more thing...you also stated in another post...Just how far off?
should we be looking at later shows?
