so basically you admit it was not a Cap film. It's a shared universe film, just like Cap 1 and Cap 2. You need to let go of your outdated and constrained views, because they're incompatible with how a Shared Universe works. no, Cap 1 and 2 set up their own story, characters, conflict with Cap at the center. In Cap 3 he was sidelined and relegated to a ensemble character like in Avengers, even the emotional family backstory stuff was not his but Iron Man's. But try not to convince me, I'm a lost cause, try it with more gullible people they might believe you.

Stories that tied into the Greater Shared Universe, characters that played a part in the greater shared universe, conflicts that affected the rest of the Shared Universe. In a story that was part of a greater shared universe, had characters that were from that shared universe and had a conflict that affected the rest of the shared universe. Tony played a part in things, but the story was still really about Cap and his own conflict with everything that was happening. You got to get with the times.

No way. It was absolutely Cap's story. In The Avengers movie, Loki and Ultron were known to be the thread from almost the very beginning. They were both a physical threat and had an army. Zemo wasn't known to be involved until late, wasn't much of a physical threat, didn't have an army. Plus, check the screen time! Captain America- 36 Iron Man- 33:45 Winter Soldier- 21 Widow- 11:45 Falcon- 10:30 T'Challa- 10:15 Scarlet Witch- 10 Zemo- 9:15 Spider-Man- 8:30 Vision- 7:15 War Machine- 6 Hawkeye- 4:45 Ant-Man- 4:45 Yeah but there are Avengers storylines that focus on a particular character more so than the others. Captain America and Iron Man also had the most screen time in the two Avengers movies by a good amount. It has all the Avengers in it. It heavily revolves around the Avengers. The story kicked off because of what happened with the Avengers. The official synopsis given for the movie mentions Avengers multiple times.

His love interest from 70 years prior dies. Her great niece becomes his new love interest. He sides with his old friend to save him from his new friends. He drops his shield, quits being Captain America, quits The Avengers, because he believes in his friend and will do anything to help him, because he's with him until the end of the line.

He drops his shield, quits being Captain America, quits The Avengers, because he believes in his friend and will do anything to help him, because he's with him until the end of the line. It can still be his story and be called an Avengers movie. They did it with the X-men movies even though they were even more focused on Wolverine. "Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability." The whole story kicked off because of Scarlet Witch on an Avengers mission. The overall main plot point of the movie involved the Avengers being divided and it all ultimately ended with them splitting up. It could easily have been called an Avengers movie. Captain America barely even had the most screen time in his own movie and Iron Man made up half the promotion for it. Either way the point is, they definitely could have got away with calling it Avengers: Civil War without raising too many eyebrows and made a couple hundred more million just from the name alone.

Calling it Avengers: Civil War would have been terrible. Zemo was not a significant physical threat, didn't have an army, wasn't even a known entity until halfway through. 'Barely had the most screen time'? Do you realize how dumb that sounds? He had more than thrice the screen time of the person with the 4th most. There was no Hulk, no Thor, no Fury. The Final Battle only had 3 people, one of which was neither an avenger nor a villain.

The Final Battle only had 3 people, one of which was neither an avenger nor a villain. Well you can apply that to Captain America. Zemo is just an ordinary man he's as much a physical threat to the Avengers as he is to Captain America and again there will be Avengers comics with weak enemies who are a threat because of their intelligence. The screentime balance is different but it still favours Captain America and Iron Man just as it did in the Avengers movies. It was that way for the comic book but it wasn't called Captain America: Civil War, it was just called Civil War. And Thor and Hulk weren't Avengers anymore by that time. Thor went back home and Hulk had just left. The line up was Captain America, Black Widow, Falcon, Vision, War Machine and Scarlet Witch and they were all there so it wasn't technically missing any Avengers. Why is Infinity War called Avengers? The vast majority of the heroes in the movie aren't even Avengers. There's Iron Man and Vision who are currently in the Avengers team.

Captain America: Civil War should have been renamed Avengers: Civil War. They probably lost out on a couple hundred million from that. No way. It's about Iron Man more than anyone else, but scabab is right – it's an Avengers movie.
