Whoa, a bandwagon fallacy combined with a non-sequitur. You're on a roll! Is that the best you have to refute the truth of 100,000 American deaths and injuries per annum, including 7,000 school children's deaths since S Sandy Hook, you pathetic little man. Your totally desperate designation of the fact that I produce which you NEVER refute into fallacies 101 is getting old and is the ultimate deflection because you rall can't argue against the cause of death and injury of 100,000 Americans per annum. Nice try. ( No really stupid actually not to mention repetitive) Your posts become less comprehensible the more you sink into one of your psychotic rages. Literally nothing you said is even remotely relevant to anything i've ever said on the topic of guns. You can't read so you imagine I've said things i haven't said and try to argue against the voices in your own head and then think you've scored some kind of points when I don't defend your delusional imaginary BIG BAD MAN WITH A GUN. I'm not going to defend claims i never made so what the hell is wrong with you?

I thought we were talking about the fact that American students have had enough of the adults (like you and the NRA and the government) talking for them, whilst their fellow student get slaughtered on a regular basis. You?

You can't do any of this because you have never once comprehended anything i've actually said because you are functionally illiterate and your feeble mind assigns claims to your opponents they have never made. When you're ready to argue against what I've actually said let me know. Until then I'm going to ridicule you for being a ridiculously stupid person with the reading comprehension of a four year old.

I hate how people assume atheists are all really into science. But it's real funny when an atheist who knows nothing about science starts a thread referencing science...or any other topic where she is ignorant. I know nothing about Classical Music so maybe I should start a thread comparing Bach with Beethoven. You could. Maybe not on the RFS board, but if it's on a music board: Why not? It doesn't have to be your own opinion. You are free to post an opinion piece by someone who compares Bach and Beethoven. That would be analoguous to what the OP did: Posting an opinion piece of someone mentioning atheists and science. While I don't necessarily agree with Aaron Freeman, I believe that the OP did nothing wrong there. It's on topic, and open for discussion. That's more than can be said about various other threads started by various other posters here.

I hope my eulogy goes something like this...
"Oh, man! He's dead!.........................................OK, everyone. Open bar!"

So you've got nothing? Shocking. Et vous? Sorry, I left off a few words. You've got nothing other than trying to shift the burden of proof in a dishonest attempt to run from your own claims. You have zero comprehension of anything but let me try to get this through to you - it's not my job to disprove your claims, it's your job to either prove them or retract them.

Aaron Freeman. “You want a physicist to speak at your funeral. You want the physicist to talk to your grieving family about the conservation of energy, so they will understand that your energy has not died. You want the physicist to remind your sobbing mother about the first law of thermodynamics; that no energy gets created in the universe, and none is destroyed. You want your mother to know that all your energy, every vibration, every Btu of heat, every wave of every particle that was her beloved child remains with her in this world. You want the physicist to tell your weeping father that amid energies of the cosmos, you gave as good as you got. And at one point you’d hope that the physicist would step down from the pulpit and walk to your broken-hearted spouse there in the pew and tell him that all the photons that ever bounced off your face, all the particles who’s paths were interrupted by your smile, by the touch of your hair, hundreds of trillions of particles, have raced off like children, their ways forever changed by you. And as your widow rocks in the arms of a loving family, may the physicist let her know that all the photons that bounced from you were gathered in the particle detectors that are her eyes, that those photons created within her constellations of electromagnetically charged neurons whose energy will go on forever. And the physicist will remind the congregation of how much of all your energy is given off as heat. There may be a few fanning themselves with their programs as he says it. And he will tell him that the warmth that flowed through you in life is still here, still part of all that we are, even as we who mourn continue the heat of our own lives. And you’ll want the physicist to explain to those who loved you that they need not have faith; indeed, they should not have faith. Let them know they can measure, that scientists have measure precisely the conservation of energy and found it accurate, verifiable and consistent across space and time. You can hope your family will examine the evidence and satisfy themselves that the science is sound and that they’ll be comforted to know your energy’s still around. According to the law of the conservation of energy, not a bit of you is gone; you’re just less orderly. Amen." – Aaron Freeman I particularly love the last bit, though I am often pretty disorderly now! Sorry but this is the No.1 reason why I find so many atheists full of total shit. You refuse to face the utter dread and objective horror of your beliefs. If you want to believe that religious people are delusional for comforting themselves with the afterlife, go ahead. But then making up this total complete cringeworthy BS about how you can comfort grieving people with atoms and electrons is grade A bullshit, I mean it really doesn't get worse. No one actually gives the slightest shit about "energy." When you have lost someone close to you, you miss their personality, their character, their mannerisms, their beliefs, their dreams, their likes and dislikes, everything that made them human. No one with an once of honesty in their body is comforted by losing all of that forever with no hope of ever seeing them again, and knowing that their "energy and atoms" are still floating out there in the air. You don't fall in love with rocks, which if you break them apart their particles are still there, you fall in love with human beings, and death takes away everything that you loved and made them human. If you want to accept "reality," then accept that without hope in the beyond, death has the final word. Death wins.

The consoling thing is that you as a person are totally unaware, yet nothing about what you said has anything to do not remembering all the joys of the one you lost. They are not there, you are separated and they are dead. Life and death. it happens to us all and every living thing. An afterlife without the physical is impossible, because the physical realm you resided in ie the body especially the brain and once it dies, 'you' and all that is you is gone. It logically can be no other way. The brain is the seat of consciousness and once that is gone, you are just plain dead.

That seems like it could be in the final episode of The Big Bang Theory. It's about comparable to the current standard of their writing.
As for myself, just because I don't believe in 'God', it doesn't mean that I want a physicist taking on the role of a clergy member at my funeral (not that I want a funeral in any case). Because I and my family don't worship 'God', that doesn't mean that they do worship the cult of science.

I actually feel the same though I posted it just to add a totally different point of view to what is usually posted on here about an afterlife. It simply as an alternative to the regular 'dust to dust' 'ashes to ashes' scenario with your Christian or whatever soul wafting upwards towards heaven or nirvana or whatever!
