I do miss the visual asthetic of the first Avengers movie. Some of these digitally lit green screen shots look like shit...

The Thanos vs Cap scene is probably something to withhold comment on until you see the movie. Complaining about "power levels" now will probably be met with "Oh! That's why!" when you see it. Originally that's what I thought when Cap fought Ultron. But no, there was no explanation why he was able to go toe to toe with an upgraded Ultron from the one IM fought. Then I thought maybe there's an explanation why Spiderman can casually catch Bucky's arm but still get beat by Cap... but again, no there's no explanation. Then I thought maybe there's an explanation why Cap can take punches from IM without getting his face broken, considering IM hits strong enough to rock Thor, but again... no explanation. So I wouldn't get my hopes up for this either.

I'll be honest, before this trailer I wasn't that excited about Inifity War. Of course it's THE big MCU movie, but I wasn't feeling 'it'. You know, that special feeling you have when you're so hyped for a movie. This trailer made me go from 'simply looking forward to it' to 'very excited to see it'. I really liked the trailer. The special effects look so much better, Thanos looks great and based on the trailer he might be a lot less one-dimensional than I thought he would be. Lately some of the MCU movies for me tried a bit too hard to be funny and entertaining, becoming irritating in the process. With this trailer it feels like the Russo Brothers got it exactly right with the comedy vs. serious moments. I can't wait to see it.

I broke down and watched it, and my anticipation (which was already off the charts), is now at DEFCON 5. I called a co-worker who's a big Marvelite and told her to come back to my desk, her comment when the trailer ended was "If that doesn't get you pumped up, then you're dead." I immediately went to Fandango and saw that tickets were on sale (I didn't get my email notification from them until afterwards...not sure why I bothered to sign up for that if they're going to send it after-the-fact) and while I was unable to get the cinema just two miles from home, I did manage tix for the same time on the 26th at a cinema about 20 minutes away, so all is good. Now the torturous wait begins...

I'm so happy Russo's remembered they're making a comedy. The first trailer was way too serious for a movie based on silly picture books for kids. Seriously? I'm totally fine with the MCU comedy films but if there's any one MCU film that needs to be taken seriously it's this one. I want there to be risk, stakes, and emotion. This is the one MARVEL film that shouldn't be a comedy.

But the comedy sometimes takes away from the drama. I rather have too little than too much. To clarify, I'm fine if there's comedy in this but I'm not fine if it becomes a comedy film. Two different things.

Both Civil War and Winter Soldier had a perfect balance and I very much like the Russo's style of filmmaking. If Whedon was directing I'd be more nervous.

Based on the new trailer I think the balance between comedy and drama looks very good. There are funny moments (and not over-the-top funny, but genuinely funny), but it also looks like there are many serious moments.

Levity from humor and comedy is what helps build that emotion because you're emotionally invested in the character and with each movie they evolve, like with Iron Man and Captain America. Thor Ragorok was really the only "comedy"-centric Marvel film though

Yondu's death wouldn't have worked nearly as well in "serious" movie. I think that was the main reason Superman's death was so unintentionally hilarious in BvS.

Thor, Tony and Pepper are also candidates for that line. Also, Loki. He might be a death. Could be Hawkeye since the trailers seem to have forgotten him! Unless Avengers 4 has them change the timeline, that could be possible. But I don't think Hawkeye is in IW.

Jeremy Renner is credited on IMDB for Avengers 3 and 4...though IMDB isn't always 100% accurate. www.imdb.com/name/nm0719637/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1There is this tie-in comic where Hawkeye says he's officially retired. but that doesn't seem like a good excuse to sit this out. Steve Rogers: Clint! We need you! This guy Thanos has 2 infinity stones...if he gets all 6 he can wipe out half the universe with the snap of his fingers! Clint: Sorry, retired. I'm gonna catch up on my Netflix queue while you guys save the universe.

Heck, characters there were getting tossed around just for laughs without getting injured or hurt.

What about it? It had some funny moments but none of them were slapstick gag reels. I'd say Dr. Strange had more slapsticky comedy compared to Spiderman.

My guess is Thanos has been powered down in the MCU or Cap got an upgrade in Wakanda. The two also fought in the comics so this scene is probably a nod to that. Thanos is seen in one scene crushing Thor's head. Anyone powerful enough to hurt Thor like that should be too strong for Cap to block a hit from. I mean, I love Cap and his movies and all but he's starting to get some ridiculous power amps. First he matches Ultron, then he takes out Spidey, then he takes out IM... they need to stop before it gets too silly. Thanos probably did take Cap down, it just wasn't shown in the trailer. It's also possible those gloves he's wearing are made of vibranium, giving him extra strength.

I don't think Wasp is in this movie either. Since Ant Man and the Wasp takes place before this film, I'm curious to know what the explanation will be if she's not there.

Good trailer but Captain America's strength appears to be just as inconsistent as ever. Despite being completely overpowered by Loki, he can somehow stop Thanos' fist, someone who they said was the most powerful being in the universe.
