I have a friend who's never watched an MCU film but wants to watch Infinity War with me. She's willing to watch a few MCU movies so she can relate a bit but she doesn't have too much time on her hands.

So what are the very necessary movies she'd need to watch so she's not completely unaware of the players in IW?

Top 5 I guess are

The Avengers 1 & 2
Doctor Strange
Guardians of the Galaxy
Thor: The Dark World

That's really the minimum as far as Infinity Stones / Thanos go.

Past that I'd say

Captain America: The First Avenger and Civil War
GotG 2
Black Panther
Thor: Ragnarok
