He probably would’ve been nominated regardless of his death, but I will acknowledge that him dying most likely helped his chances of actually winning. Still, he deserved it.

Either you think he gave the best performance of the nominees and he deserved to win or you think someone else was better and he didn't deserve to win.

I believe he did deserve to win, but the Academy most likely wouldn’t have let him win if it hadn’t been for his death.

yep fully endorsed although to be fair Brolin and Downey jr. were sublime as was Fiennes, Eckart, and Mittal, and Hoffman.

Yes, none of the other nominations were as good as his performance.
Robert Downey Jr was nominated and he played his part really well too but not to the same extent.

He totally did. I cant think of anyone else who could have topped his performance as the psychotic clown.

Absolutely!
Nolan should have won an Oscar for best director and The Dark Knight should have won best picture, but the academy is extremely prejudice against comic book movies, especially in big categories like best picture.

Yes, and it annoys me when people say he only got nominated and won because he died. He was up against Robert Downey Jr playing blackface in a Ben Stiller comedy, yet the Oscars were above nominating a cultural phenomenon of a performance like Ledger's? F*** off. Tell me where Richard Harris' Oscar is for playing Dumbledore.

RDJ's oscar Nome is kinda sickening,he wore blackface in a comedy thats no laughing matter Seriously? It was a jab at method actors, most notably Daniel Day Lewis, and ridiculous Hollywood practices. The thought of an actor actually having a complex surgery to adjust their skin color to play a real-life person in a serious blockbuster title in modern times and actually stay in character till DVD commentary is just so ridiculous its hysterical.

Wow! There was a commentary on the DVD about how to turn blackface. That is super racist!

No, RDJ's character Kirk Lazurus in the movie says he stays in character till its time to do the DVD commentary with every role he does.
