Check this out: ViridianaI looked up the movie on IMDb; I read all the reviews, and it is an interesting movie. I'll bet, though, that it is hard to find. Interesting. That's my favourite movie of my favourite director and probably my 4th favourite movie of all-time. The Catholic Church got miffed by the movie. One of the scene depicted ménage à trois which was too bold for its time. Well, that's super cool. I love "Viridiana" and would say it's my 3rd favorite Bunuel film, 2nd being "The Discreet Charm of The Bourgeoisie" and my number one favorite being "The Exterminating Angel". Bunuel is in my top five directors, along William Castle, Mario Bava, Roman Polanski and Robert Altman. I saw Dick Cavett interview Alfred Hitchcock once and Cavett asked AH if he thought there were any really good directors out there and AH wasted no time citing Luis Bunuel. That's so cool. And I can see Hitchcock being impressed by Luis Bunuel, the way Bunuel's unfettered imagination splashed itself all over the big screen, Bunuel who ran both hot and cool at once. So, Aj_June,I have to ask you, if "Viridiana" is your fourth favorite movie, what are your top three? I love favorite lists.

Glad to know that you love Bunuel too): I also love the other 2 Bunuel works you mentioned. Viridiana happened to be first movie of Bunuel that I ever saw and I am a bit partial to it. Mario Bava was excellent and could be credited for popularising giallo
My favourite movie of all-time is Sansho the Bailiff (1954). I have only seen it once but my thoughts are well summarised by the The New Yorker film critic Anthony Lane who said, "I have seen Sansho only once, a decade ago, emerging from the cinema a broken man but calm in my conviction that I had never seen anything better; I have not dared watch it again, reluctant to ruin the spell, but also because the human heart was not designed to weather such an ordeal."
Viridiana (1961) at 4
My no.1 and 2 are always fixed but other top 20 could change depending on mood.
