Does anyone know why MCU television characters can't appear in the movies? Maybe dumb it down for those of us who lack the understanding of how film and television work.

Does anyone know why MCU television characters can't appear in the movies? Maybe dumb it down for those of us who lack the understanding of how film and television work. Scheduling issues. If the stars of Cloak and Dagger were to appear in say Spiderman, the producers, directors, writers and actors have to coordinate their skeds. A movie takes months to shoot at various locations and that can disrupt the show which has to finish and air at a specific time.

The timeline is another reason. The current MCU TV shows are all set before Infinity War, which is why they're not saying anything about half the population disappearing.

Yeah, I think the most recent season of Agents of SHIELD just ended shortly after Thanos' goons attacked NYC.
I imagine the upcoming season two of Iron Fist will take place before Infinity War too.

Is this a superhero show or a drama because I'm seeing a lot of drama and scifi stuff but no superheroes fighting villans and saving the world. It's like a scifi version of Gossip Girl.

I think it's a slow burning superhero show with a greater emphasis on character development.

A revival of Peggy Carter would be great ^This. More than anything. I would love to see that happen too as I recently mentioned on another thread but I just can't see it happening after this amount of time 'cause it is very, very rare when a TV show comes back after being off air for a long duration of time and the only shows that come to mind are the ones that are getting revivals like 'Will & Grace' and 'Full House' which went for multiple seasons during their original runs and were very popular. Looking at what happened with 'Veronica Mars' and 'Serenity' I think the only chance we have of 'Agent Carter' coming back is if the MCU made it into a movie.

I think one of the main reasons it hasn't happened is 'cause the executives at Marvel or Disney don't want it to happen and we discussed this once before and you posted an article of an interview with Chloe Bennet where she talked about being disappointed about 'Marvel's Agents of SHIELD' being ignored in the MCU movies and I think if they wanted it to happen characters like Quake and even Bobbi/ Mockingbird could have appeared in one of the Avengers movies but somebody is against it happening which is disappointing 'cause 'Marvel's Agents of SHIELD' was the perfect launching pad for Jessica Drew and they could have had her as a member of Hydra who turned good when she found out they were criminals and worked for SHIELD and then left and joined the movies as Spider Woman.

Oh crap I forgot about Chloe yeah. Wasn't it just a couple of months or so we had that talk? Thanks for reminding me. Man I already forgot and I was the one who posted the link. I guess I need those memory boosting supplements after all. Yeah it would've have been great if Bobbi appeared in the Avengers given her relationship with Hawkeye. Even though Clint has a family in Avengers, they could have done it like the two shared a past and that could have made Clint a more interesting character, maybe even have him on Agents of SHIELD. As for Jessica that would have been perfect, her being SHIELD first. I don't know why they don't, maybe it's due to the TV and movie divide. But it could also be because Spider Woman's rights may belong to Sony. General Kenobi Here's the article where Chloe Bennet speaks her mind about the MCU screencrush.com/agents-of-shield-chloe-bennet-marvel-movies/

Thanks. I don't remember asking for that. It's Hell getting old. But thanks. I think I remember hearing her complain about that before. Can't blame her. It's hard to buy that they're all in the same universe when they can't get involved in any of the major events.

General Kenobi Here's the article where Chloe Bennet speaks her mind about the MCU screencrush.com/agents-of-shield-chloe-bennet-marvel-movies/ That is okay hardball. I can understand people forgetting things and I often forget about things I write and mention them again on here and when I am looking at some of my old posts I realise I wrote about them a few months ago but I have a really good memory with other things like events that happened years ago and Beccy and my sister are often surprised with the amount of things I can remember in details 'cause they can barely remember them and my sister is older than me. I don't forget things like my Uncle though and he is really bad when it comes to remembering things and my Aunt says he would forget his head if it wasn't screwed on so be thankful you aren't as bad as him. By the way, I just wanted to say I haven't forgotten your post on the 'Doctor Sleep' thread and I will reply to that the next time I am on here. I think Marvel should have at least one event where they have all the movie and TV superheroes come together and fight a villain 'cause it seems like a really wasted opportunity not doing anything with it and after the events of 'Infinity War' now would be the best time in my opinion to bring them together and have the remaining heroes team up with the TV heroes like Quake, Mockingbird, Daredevil and the Punisher. Heck, Daredevil was in the 'Infinity War' comic book and it would get a lot of fans talking just to do it with one.
As for the Spider Woman rights I think they belong to Marvel 'cause she was created by Archie Goodwin who named her after his daughter and debuted in her own series that was kept separate from Spider-Man for years but Marvel wanted to wait until they had Spider-Man to use Spider Woman in the movies.

I think the rights to the various spider-characters are a tangled mess. Pun not intended. SOnly claims to own the film rights to 900 Marvel characters and is planning on making movies for many of them. But not many people have high hopes for Venom and trouble is brewing for Silver and Black, which has been scrapped in favor of solo films for Silver Sable and Black Cat. As well as a Morbius the Living Vampire film starring Jared Leto.
Of course there are rumors that Sony is doing all of this to generate interest in their movie division, which they are planning to sell off. but I don't think they can sell the rights to the Marvel characters. I think, in the case of a sell, the film rights revert back to Marvel.
Which would be for the best. After all the three Spider-Man films made with Sony oversight have done poorly, while the three where they had the least oversight did the best.

It appears to be that way and I heard there are a lot of fans who are upset over the 'Venom' movie at the moment 'cause they are saying it is going to only have a PG rating now and they were hoping for something far more violent but I didn't think it was going to end up being that violent or dark 'cause of Venom's connection to Spider-Man and it is most likely going to have a lot of children wanting to see it so they are probably cutting down on the violence for them. It will be interesting to see how it turns out and what the other movies in Sony's Spiderverse like Morbius and Silk are like and hopefully we will get Live Action SpiderGwen and Prowler movies if they are successful but their future will most likely depend on the success of 'Venom.' I heard Sony was planning on selling their movie division off but I can't see Sony being bought out 'cause they have a lot more than just their movie division and their record label is the second biggest selling record label in the world.

This is gonna suck isn't it? Isn’t Venom a Horror character? You can’t give a Horror character a PG movie. Who is coming up with these decisions? Didn’t they learn from Spawn? Sony is losing their edge with movies but you can’t fault their music division. They have some of the best bands in the world and Disney couldn’t even hold on to Lyric Street.

Jaws disagrees with you! Ratings don't make a horror film good or bad. It's atmosphere and scary set pieces and characters you like in tense situations.

It is possible to make a Horror movie with a PG rating and it can be enjoyable and scary but from the way people are talking about 'Venom' at the moment it sounds like it might turn out to be disappointing and we will have to wait and see. I think it might have been a mistake to give 'Venom' (a villain character) the first movie in the Sony Spiderverse too and they should have gone with some heroes first and had 'Spider Woman' and 'Spider-Man 2099'

Or they should have ditched the Spiderverse idea and returned the characters to Marvel.

They could have maybe gone with Miles and just give him the name he went by in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon Kid Arachnid but otherwise give him his normal backstory, then make Venom similar to Deadpool where the narrative isn't done in chronological order, we get pieces of the present and pieces of the origin, then the film ends with Eddie as Venom finally confronting Peter as Spider who is in the shadows and Venom in the future now taking Spidey's place in the shadows facing down another criminal.

But even then only so far as Marvel is willing to let them, they can be as nitpicky and stringent on how characters should be used as we can be, except you know they can stop the shit from being released, we cant we can just bitch.
