Well that sort of sucks. I need my hip replaced but I quit smoking 3 years ago. I was getting sicker every time I got a cold and the last time it was pneumonia.

why do they make it so complicated. I was told in a geneology report of our family tree that he was my ancestor. I was also told that he existed but not in the way that we think or that the movies portray. My mothers maiden name was Yates and is English. they say somehow that he was an ancestor on the family tree.

Doctors regularly refuse to operate. There's no point in operating people only to let them die on the operating table.
My father was specifically told that if he were still smoking, they would not have operated on him and he'ld have died. Granted, he did have lung cancer, so it does make sense. No point operating and removing a lung, if the person is going to suffocate due to not having enough lung capacity left.
Personal responsibility, you make a choice, deal with the consequences.
Ofcourse, this shouldn't be considered in all cases. If there is no real link between the smoking and the survivability of the surgery, then the doctor probably won't refuse to operate to begin with though.

It's understandable as a caring surgeon to go to all his work for a patent that would have a extreme health and many complications.
What bothers me is now that so many people have stopped smoking they are no0w going after sugar and soda with extra taxes they are losing of the cig. comp.
SDome day in the future there will be basically salt inspectors that inspect you dinner table SCARY

The trouble is that people that smoke, drink too much alcohol and generally let themselves go, raise the health insurance premiums for everyone else.

Because there needs to be a massive wholesale redistribution of wealth in the west.

Because there needs to be a massive wholesale redistribution of wealth in the west. Most times throwing money at something doesn't always work. It needs to be a multi-prong attack.

Don't blame them--doctors hate smokers--smokers are weak and stupid plus they drive up health costs, plus smokers STINK
