I'm a big of the games, I just watched both movies in one week. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) - Usually I'm not a fan of British films, but it's mildly enjoyable, but I didn't like the editing. Angelina Jolie wasn't very good though, her face is a bit annoying. The first scene was the best part of the movie. 6.5/10 Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003) - Jolie was a little better and less annoying in her role in this movie. It's way more enjoyable than the first. The final fight scene is awesome! After watching this movie, I wish there was another sequel. 7.5/10 Anyone's excited for reboot?

I really dislike the first one and am aggressively ambivalent towards the second one. I'm glad they're rebooting it. At this point, can't say that it will break the video game movie curse but hopefully they're better.

I enjoyed the first one but haven't seen it in nearly a decade. I could never get through the second one even though the consensus seems to be that it was better....

I guess they were good for the time. I just really didn't like how Angelina Jolie looked as Lara. I never thought Jolie was sexy and it just really irked me that we as an audience thought she was supposed to be. I always liked how Lara looked in Legend so I guess that's why I was disappointed with her look in the movies. Yes I'm looking forward to the reboot because I loved the last 2 games of the rebooted franchise.

I really don't know who I would replace instead of Angelina Jolie. I truly hope the reboot will share amazing action scenes. I'm glad they're making it!

I turned off my quality control and enjoyed them both as dumb action films.

Angelina Jolie is a great under-appreciated actress. Tomb Raider (2001) 7/10 Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003) 6/10 Both good movies ... the first one is very good.

The first one is okay (actually one of the better video game based movies) but Cradle of Life is crap.

I actually saw them both when they first came out, but barely remember them now.

I saw and enjoyed them when each one was in theaters.

I saw the first one at the theatre and I think I quite liked it at the time (it was also the first time I'd seen Chris Barrie from Red Dwarf playing a role other than Rimmer). There were parts of the movie I enjoyed, and other parts...not so much.
I never saw the second one at the theatre, though watched it one time on TV. I don't think I liked it as much (though that GIF of Lara punching a shark is kind of ridiculously awesome).
I am indeed looking forward to the 'reboot', as I'm a fan of Alicia Vikander's and think she'll bring some depth to the role (even if it's not written with much). I haven't played any of the video games, though I would've liked to have played the rebooted versions, as they looked really interesting/fun.

In the end... they are forgettable. watchable, but forgettable.
i thought Jolie was a good choice for the role though especially from a look standpoint.
p.s. best video game turned movie for me is... Need for Speed (2014) (6-6.5/10) which is within my Top 248 movies. in fact, i like it more than some of the Fast & Furious series.

The first one is okay (actually one of the better video game based movies) but Cradle of Life is crap. My thoughts exactly. The first one was ok. Had a little bit of James Bond and a little bit of Indiana Jones vibe to it. Not too intelligent but entertaining. The second one was just dumb.

Forgettable. I literally forget what the plot really was. I know I've seen them.
