This may be another non-Star-Wars Boyega Bomb(The Circle, Detroit)---With a budget of $155 million, this movie will need almost $400 million worldwide just to break even, and with a weak opening of just $23 million, its going to be a challenge--The first Pacific Rim, a better cast, a better director earned 71% RT Critics approval, while this sequel earned just 47%--RT Audience earned a respectable 77% for the first one, while this sequel is so far at 59% and sinking fast

In Boyega's defense, The Circle was more of an Emma Watson vehicle that bombed.

Boyega a producer on the movie too, so he gets more blame
I'd like Boyega return to Brit acting, probably suits him better

To be fair, this was a poor conceptual sequel to a rather niche film to begin with. The lackluster advertising probably didn't help either.

It actually looks like quite an enjoyable sequel honestly...I’m just not in an incredible rush to go see it.

It’s sad that this is doing so poorly. The first one was actually a really good movie thanks to Mr. Del Toro. When I saw the preview for this I could tell it was totally different from Del Toro’s.
It’s a shame this may be another dumb fighting robot movie series now.

Some of the critics reviews are absolutely withering for this dumb movie: '111 minutes feels like 1,011 minutes'--'you wont feel like a ten year old again, you'll feel ten years older' 'mindless mayhem' 'movie is like watching saturday morning cartoons and just as riveting' 'movie is like leftovers from the fridge' etc
