Jackie Brown is the only Tarantino movie I like. The rest demonstrate skill and cleverness but devolve into adolescent pyrotechnics and mayhem.

Jackie Brown is the only Tarantino movie I like (like bravomailer above). Not surprisingly, it's his only film to be adapted from pre-existing material.
Worst: Death Proof

Best - Kill Bill (I treat it as one volume) Worst - Hateful 8 was the one I enjoyed least.I guess I don;t like movies, no matter how beautifully shot, that have characters that are indeed hateful.

I don't mind a movie filled with bad guys, Goodfellas is one of my faves, but there has to be something I can empathize with which is pretty much any Scorsese film. There is nothing redeeming about any of the characters in Hateful Eight. They're all horrible and I'm glad that most if not all died.

But even in Scorsese's movies, there's at least one character I root for, even though he's a criminal. Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver, Ray Liotta in Goodfellas, De Niro in Casino, etc.

BEST - R Dogs or Jackie Brown (each are 9/10)
Worst - Death Proof ( I remember seeing Grindhouse opening night and it started with Planet Terror & the audience was so damn into it......then Death Proof started lol . Seriously , I lost count of how many people walked out of that shit . And I really can't blame them either . DP was filled with too many catty worthless characters & conversations . Not enough Kurt . 4/10

Best - Kill Bill (I treat it as one volume) Worst - Hateful 8 was the one I enjoyed least.I guess I don;t like movies, no matter how beautifully shot, that have characters that are indeed hateful. It's funny that you mention how well shot The Hateful Eight is and that is actually my least favorite aspect of the film. The script and performances are what make the movie good imo. I don't see it as all the characters being hateful and a couple of them aren't even THAT bad, such as Samuel L. Jackson's character. The only characters that are absolute horrible people are Jennifer Jason Leigh and her gang and Bruce Dern's character. The other characters certainly aren't good people but they all have redeeming qualites. Kurt Russell's character may be brutal to his prisoner but she isn't exactly a good person or anywhere near being a good person for that matter. The 3 main characters are written as 3-dimentional human beings imo and that is what makes them so interesting and watchable. The whole point of the ending is how the racist and the African American have to team up and even start getting along to a certain extent. Another reason the movie is able to pull this off is because it is all done in a satirical way.
