They both played their parts equally well.

They both played their parts equally well. I knew it will be tough to choose one. Still if you have to choose just one who will you choose as a slightly better one.

Pacino – by far. Not knocking De Niro's performance but Pacino was asked to do a lot more.

Pacino. Him in the "it was an abortion" scene could be my favorite acted scene ever.

I'm gonna disagree.
I believe De Niro had a wider range to cover with his acting.
Pacino's acting was relatively one dimensional outside of a few scenes

Actually i also think that de niro was better. It was really tough for a newcomer to portray a younger version of an iconic character and de niro did it superbly without being loud or over the top. Its a tough choice between the two but i always thought de niro was slightly better.

Both good in different ways. Vito was far more likeable tho.

Pacino was the better actor, agreed. He had more to do. Between Fredo and the abortion stuff.

Pacino was probably better, but I think I like De Niro's performance more. He was just so effortlessly badass, blue collar, and suave all at the same time.

De Niro. Pacino was much more impressive in the first film.
John Cazale gives arguably the best performance of the entire trilogy in part II, though.
