Karen Black stated that on the set of Family Plot, Hitchcock was goofing around and pulled up his shirt, his belly button was gone, removed in an operation he'd had! How odd! What kind of operation would result in such an outcome? Not that one needs a belly button, but I'd like to keep mine, thanks!

There are a couple of operations that could have this result. One that might apply to Hitchcock is the beriatric procedure that used to be called the "tummy tuck."

I wonder HAVE BELLY BUTTONS (OR LACK THEREOF) EVER BEEN FEATURED AS A MAJOR PLOT DEVISE IN A CLASSIC FILM ? (or for that matter, a recent film or a film about to be released ? ) Not Jeannie's scandalous belly button as that is more for the CLASSIC TV BOARD (if there even is such a place here on this " confusing new format" of a board).
BTW, Nice uv u 2 bump this fun thread 4 a pal... , Lebowskidoo 🎄😷🎄

Movie? TV show? Talk show? Stand-up comedy? Who can answer? Anybody? Bueller?

I suppose this thread could continue as a "Belly Buttons in Classic Film" discussion. I immediately thought of Honey Ryder in Dr. No.

mikef6 dunno the origin of mass discussions but physically some belly buttons are innies or outies BUT I had a friend whose mom had somehow or other put a clean coin in his belly button when it was healing and he has a "flatty" about the size of a quarter. ( No picture available, sorry ! )
My dad always mentioned that Red Skelton seemed to be obsessed with telling jokes about Belly Buttons. Weird .. (both of them )

Lebowskidoo 🎄😷🎄 you could edit the title ! "Belly Buttons in Classic Film" maybe in ALL CAPS ?
I'd call Honey's an "inny" . yes ?

Not Jeannie's scandalous belly button as that is more for the CLASSIC TV BOARD (if there even is such a place here on this " confusing new format" of a board). Not only is there a Classic TV board. There are separate sub-boards for each decade.

Unfortunately ,there are some among us (who shall remain nameless because they have a name we dare not mention ), who are totally unaware of that little fact and insist on bringing up TV on the CFB. IF only someone could let them know.

For better or worse a lot of posters like to stick to one (or a few boards) so if you want certain posters' opinions on something related to another board, you have to bend the "rules". However if it's from someone who does it constantly because they refuse to explore other boards themselves, I can see how that can be annoying.

Fox in the Snow"if you want certain posters' opinions on something related to another board, you have to bend the "rules"." or if you just want to rant your own opinions and don't really care what any one else thinks
"...if it's from someone who does it constantly because they refuse to explore other boards themselves" BINGO ! We have a winner !
anyway . back to bellybuttons
They seem to be banned at the Beach Party

Fox in the Snowif you just want to rant your own opinions and don't really care what any one else thinks I guess you can do that on any board, relevant or otherwise.
