Mets Phillies suspended due to snow. Is it still snowing there? It snowed here like a bitch this morning, we got about 4 inches from 6 am - 10 am, and then it just stopped, the sun came out and now it's a beautiful afternoon with all the snow already melted. Bizarro land. Less than an inch in the Philly burbs where I am but it rained / sleeted most of the morning. Nothing even on the grass here.

Even still, they could have easily cleared the field in time. Oh well.

Steven Matz with a dud to start the year. For the Mets to get anywhere this season, they need to go .500 in games not started by Syndergaard and deGrom. Hardly a tall order.....right? The thing with Matz, he still just has no command the second he walks someone or gives up a hit, it's like the wheels come off. You compare that to deGrom on Saturday who clearly didn't have his best stuff, but gutted through 5.2 innings, giving up one run, walking one and striking out 7. Matz was up with his fastball and every time he didn't get a close call, you could see him visibly get annoyed. Gotta get past that at this level, sport. You've had enough experience now to know that you have to win games without your best stuff (and frankly, you never really have your best stuff). Harvey goes tonight against the Phils. Hardly the flamethrower with the dominant, late-breaking heat anymore, it's time for Harvey to re-invent himself as something of a finesse guy in his walk year. You don't have to throw 98 all the time, 95 is just fine is he can generate enough separation on his once-devastating changeup. I'm pulling for him (obviously), even though he's a giant douche. My first look at the Phils this year. Let's see how Gabe Kapler can totally botch this one. Maybe an inadvertent double switch in the 4th inning. I know we are only 3 games into a long season, but I am already done with Gabe βDonβt Call Me Chip Kellyβ Kapler. Has any manager in the history of the game started his career off in a worse fashion? Iβm including minors, college, little league, and t-ball in that. What a fucking joke this guy is. When an umpire reprimands your manager and the ump is the good guy in the story youβre a fucking joke. What an embarrassment. Three games and what could have been a promising season is already ruined for me. My level of hatred of this guy and the new-school obsessed gm Klentak is off the charts. God dammit. I thought his name was recognizable. Well. Almost. I'm drunk. Let's give Gabe 2 seasons! How much worse than Ryne Sandberg can he be!

My top (only concern) is - he (they) bomb so bad this year and underachieve Harper is truly turned off to coming here. It's why I'm loving what the Sixers are doing and I'm sure LeBron and others are taking notice. Like the Sixers - I think next offseason is where this team is going to truly define itself

Best news of the day: 2018 Blue Jays are the oldest team in MLB. Which means even when they finish 1 game over .500 this year, get out. Donaldson might surely even be traded because Vlady Jr 3B.

A nice cold, rainy, shitty April night for Matt Harvey's maiden voyage into the 2018 regular season. Awesome conditions for a guy coming off multiple injuries trying to prove himself. Luckily, Gabe Kapler will probably use his entire starting rotation in the infield to start tonight's game just to get them some cardio so we have that going for us.

August 22, 1965 β A game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants at Candlestick Park turns ugly when San Francisco's starting pitcher, Juan Marichal, batting against Sandy Koufax in the third inning, attacks Dodgers catcher John Roseboro with his bat. Both benches clear and a 14-minute brawl ensues, before peacemakers such as Koufax and the Giants' Willie Mays restore order. A shaken up Koufax then gives up a 3 run homer to Mays and the Giants win 4β3 to retake 1st place.
National League president Warren Giles suspends Marichal for eight games and fines him $1,750, and also forbids him to travel with his team to Dodger Stadium for the final series of the season against the Dodgers. Although the Giants take both games during a 14-game winning streak, the Dodgers would go on to win the pennant, using a 13-game winning streak of their own to clinch the pennant over the rival Giants on the season's next to last day.

Terrific game in the Magic City!!!! Sox shouldβve left Kimbrel in and they wouldβve won it IMO.

The number of pitchers the Phillies have used is greater than the number of hits by the offense. Fuckin Kapler....

Terrific game in the Magic City!!!! Sox shouldβve left Kimbrel in and they wouldβve won it IMO. God how I fucking hate that bearded cumstain Matt Barnes. Other than Kimbrel, I hate the Red Sox bullpen. And the season is six days old. Yay!!!! What the hell was Kimbrel doing in a tie game anyway? Alex Cora possessed by the spirit of John Farrell. And another great start by Chris Sale all for naught. Gee, think he will resign with Boston when his contract is up?

Matt Barnes is the definition of a subpar, mediocre, overused reliever, donβt know why the Sox seem to love him so much. Their bullpen is weak behind Kimbrel, no consistent set up guy, they did a really poor job in that area, they never seem to have a solid bullpen. Sale was pulled way too early, after only 5 innings, same thing happened in the opener at the Trop on Thursday, Sale was brilliant and the pen shit the bed.

I haven't hated a Red Sox player this much since the legendary Heathcliff Slocomb. I've seen that same Barnes inning before. Two quick out, then two walks, then serve up a grapefruit. Did you see Lewis Brinson rob Mookie. I've never seen an outfielder "slow roll" an umpire, and it was funny. Don't do it on a poker table, Lewis.
