I've tried to accessing wikipedia in three different web browsers, and it won't load. (IE 11, Chrome, AOL Shield)
According to some website checkers, that I tried... Wikipedia servers are up and running...
But, they don't seem to be sending any data, to me...
Even photos, posted from, their website, onto one of the boards here, are not loading for me...:
I ran Windows Diagnostics, and got these similar messages:
"website (www.wikipedia.org) is online but isn't responding to connection attempts"
"resource (en.wikipedia.org) is online but isn't responding to connection attempts"
I also dug a little deeper and uncovered this message:
"The remote computer isn’t responding to connections on port 443, possibly due to firewall or security policy settings, or because it might be temporarily unavailable. Windows couldn’t find any problems with the firewall on your computer."
I checked BOTH ports 80 & 443 using Microsoft's guide:
support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/291983/ports-that-are-used-by-windows-product-activation
And they BOTH seem to be working...
It's just this one specific website that isn't working for me.
After doing a GOOGLE search, It seems this is a 'somewhat' common problem with many users.
This same thing has happened to me before, about two years ago... I found one solution to the problem, then...and it worked instantly.
However, it seems my problem is slightly different this time around... I'm trying all the same 'fixes' that I know of, but it's not working.
I'm trying to look for other solutions...
I'm using Windows 7 64-Bit Pro... and I'm still using a Dial-Up ISP (Yes I know)...
This started yesterday... The only things that have happened are...
1.) My ISP had problems (on their end) yesterday, but nothing unusual... Clearly it is working now.
2.) I've updated my Norton AntiVirus, to the latest files. I do this regularly...
I'm just confused as to why ONE website won't load...
You would think that would mean that the problem is with them... But some other testers on this forum, say the website is working for them.
Any help and suggestions would be appreciated...
Thanks.
