Part four in an ongoing series where Jason Voorhees continues to teach horny teenagers the benefits of abstinence. George McFly's dancing is a sight to behold. None much too interesting here, except if you like a bald Corey Feldman losing his mind.

Especially the guys. Corey Feldman gives a good performance. I liked how he went over the top. And Crispin Glover is a true eccentric. My favorite "extra" character is the banana eating hitch-hiker.

All the violence and nudity is ramped up to 11, Jason is still scary, and the cast is likable.

tbh, I really can't remember anything about this or V. All I remember of III is him getting the hockey mask.

My favorite Friday the 13th movies are part IV, V, and VI.
It's a trilogy within the saga. I call it the Tommy Jarvis trilogy.
Giving Jason an ongoning nemesis was an interesting idea. To me it gives the story more weight, as opposed to him just hacking up random teens having sex.
If I remade this franchise (or rebooted it) I'd start it off with Jason age 13 at Camp Crystal Lake, disfigured. His mom was told by a school counselor he needed to try something social to get him out more and not be so introverted and socially awkward.
He gets picked on by the other kids and even over hears the 19/20 year old counselors making fun of him. The only kid who is nice to him is Tommy Jarvis because he's a nerdy type. And he's younger. Maybe 10 years old.
Anyway, the other 13 year old kids throw Jason into the lake because he can't swim and laugh at him. Tommy Jarvis hears a commotion. He realizes the Jason is drowning. He gets in a boat trying to save him. It's too late. He's sunk. They can't find him.
Jason's mom is informed he drowned and they can't find his body. She blames herself. She starts screaming at the teen counselors, "You should have been watching my BOY!" She pulls out a gun from her purse to kill them, Jason is watching from the woods. He was hiding in embarrassment. He didn't drown. When he sees his mom he begins to come forward and BOOM! She shoots herself.
He runs back into the woods.
Fast forward 5 years later. Those kids who threw him into the water are now 18 years old. They work at the camp as counselors. Tommy lives in a lake house down the road. He's only 15 or so.
Jason has been living in an abandoned cabin this whole time, alone. He dug up his mom's corpse and has it in his cabin.
Then Jason goes on a revenge killing spree. He's killing the kids who threw him into the lake.
This way there's a plot, and you empathize with Jason. Tommy of course would be the one to kill Jason at the end, but this is where the story has emotional weight because he understands his pain, but he doesn't want him to kill people.

The series is formulaic, sure, but they perfected the formula with this one. This is the ultimate Jason flick, as far as I am concerned.

I think 2's in the mix as well as far as the fans go. I'd say 2 and 6 are my favorites, with Jason in SPAAAAAACE being a distant third, just for how ludicrous it is (and that vicious liquid nitrogen kill)

Never really cared much for it. Like it better than all the New Line Friday’s, but near the bottom of the Paramount Friday’s.

In my top 4. Probably the best kills and the best ending, though it just isn't my personal favourite. Parts 1, 3 and 6 I like more.
