Yes. Moderation is important on any board and I have seen a few forums that went to hell 'cause there weren't any moderators on them and I don't see them as often as I used to but there used to be a lot of porn spammers that posted on forums and they would take over forums with heaps of posts and people stopped writing on them 'cause there weren't any moderators around to delete them. I used to write on a lot of music forums a decade ago and I was an Admin on my own forum and a moderator on a music channel's forum and after dealing with one sick and twisted individual and his friends on that posted sick pictures everywhere and made threats to members with pictures of them and their children and addresses I stopped writing on forums and deleted my Facebook and Myspace and IMDB was the first forum I joined in around 5 years. I joined another forum after the IMDB Boards closed down and was writing on there for a few months before I made the move over to here but there wasn't much traffic on it and it was only myself and 3 other members that were regularly posting. This forum is the most active out of all the post IMDB boards I have seen and it is better moderated than the others but some sections like the DCEU and MCU boards are full of nothing but constant fighting. You are right with how it used to be with artists and bands and releasing albums and singles were more important than touring 'cause they made most of their money on them but illegal downloading took a toll on album sales and there are a lot of people that use I Tunes to just download one or two songs they like on an album instead of buying the full albums now. I think the internet has made it harder for a lot of artists and bands in some ways but it has also made it easier in other ways especially for independent artists and bands to promote themselves and get discovered. Some artists and bands who have started out on Myspace and You Tube have gone on to become very successful and I remember talking to quite a few Country Music artists on Myspace before they were signed to major labels like Luke Bryan and they have gone on to have a lot of hits on the charts. Thanks to the internet bands like the Dollyrotscan make careers releasing fun funded albums on sites like Pledge Music and Kickstarter too without having to be signed to a major record label and can record the type of albums their fans want to hear instead of being controlled by record labels.
There are also a lot of new AOR/Melodic Rock, Glam Metal and New Wave artists and bands in European countries that have used the internet to establish fanbases and they are releasing albums and touring all the time and if they had signed under major record labels they would have been forced to play Pop music or what is classed as Modern Rock. A lot of those bands are heavily influenced by bands like Journey, Toto, Foreigner, Heart, Styx, Night Ranger, Scorpions, Deep Purple, Bon Jovi, Magnum, Def Leppard etc and their fans have gone on to buy albums of the older bands they were influenced by which keeps the genre alive. We often see a lot of young people here when we go to see Classic Rock bands in concerts and it is one of the main reasons those bands keep going 'cause their fanbases continue to grow. One album I am looking forward to this year by an older artist is Sunstorm's 'The Road to Hell' and I own all of the other Sunstorm albums and think they are some of the best albums Joe Lynn Turner has recorded to date and if you have never heard of Sunstorm but like Joe Lynn Turner you should check them out.

I read a number of music sites when I am online like Melodic Rock.com and I am always finding out about new AOR/Melodic Rock artists and bands from countries like Germany, Italy, Sweden, Finland and Norway and I buy most of the albums on I Tunes 'cause it is cheaper than ordering them physically and paying the import cost which is a lot more than other countries. Without sounding like I work for the site
I really would suggest you check out Melodickrock.com if you are interested in discovering new bands of that genre. I have lost count of how many new artists and bands I have learned about looking on there and many of them I wouldn't have read about on other mainstream music sites 'cause they don't cover all genres. Joe Lynn Turner has a very large catalogue of music when you look at how many albums he has released as a solo artist and lead vocalist of bands and he has released over 50 albums and one of his most recent releases was 'Rated X's' Self Titled album. Here is one of his singles as Rated X along with some Sunstorm songs.
