Taking a break from the Fletch series after the first 3 books. They're good but need a break. Reading Michael Crichton Congo right now. I love reading old books that deal with science to see what they got right and wrong. Crichton in the 60's and 70's tends to include things like voice recognition and response in the late 60's and 70's contemporary to when the books were written. And it took, what, until 21st century for that tech to become reliable.

Just started Dean Koontz's Devoted. The Quotes page has 5 quotes about dogs. Koontz has been in a rut lately I am going to make some predictions: 1. There will be a loving dog that is some how other worldly. CHECK 2. There will be a gun enthusiast that is fed up with the government that has sequestered themselves somehow and will be integral to the plot. HALF CHECK SO FAR BECAUSE OF THE MOM 3. There will be a sociopathic killer that has some thoughts of grandeur like he is becoming a god. CHECK 4. There will be a character that represents nature or God over science. EH NOT REALLY SO FAR ALTHOUGH KIPS FIRST CARETAKER SEEMS LIKE A CANADATE 5. There will be a evil corporist. THE MAIN SOCIOPATHIC KILLER MIGHT FIT, BUT HE DOES HAVE A BOSS 6. Almost everyone in power or part of the government is evil or corrupt. SO FAR YES SO HALF CHECK Gave up on him years ago. Liked the early conspiracy novels and standalones but the dog shite and the "Odd" books did for me.

I liked the sexy cover! Nah, I thought I'd read another Jospehine Tey after enjoying Brat Farrar.

I've been reading a book titled Man corn. It's about the American southwest before the white man arrived. The Indian's had a 800 room building in a place called Cowboy Wash. After much prosperity They for some reason resorted to cannibalism and there's proof for it too. It's not for everyone. I have the hard cover book. About $30.00 from amazon.

The Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey My Mum read that last week. It has a great reputation, but she didn't enjoy it.

Never had any idea about the huge scale of Joey Ramone's OCD.

After what felt like an eternity reading The Dark by James Herbert (and they say Stephen King writes abrupt, unsatisfying endings!), I'm reading Axiom's End by Lindsay Ellis. (I'll try not to take months to finish this one.)
