faustus5 , how's the Varoufakis book? Is it worth reading? It's an upsetting read but a great book so far. I vaguely know things turn out horrible in the end, but I'm learning a lot about a subject I normally blow off.

The Mammoth Book Of Jack The Ripper Stories - some really fun tales in here, it's a surprisingly effective collection A Sailor Of Austria by John Biggins - This was recommended as being close in tone to George Macdonald Frasers Flashman stories.

I'm halfway through Dostoyevsky 'The Idiot' right now.
It's fantastic. Impossible to tell where the story will go, it's like he was making it up as he went along and even he didn't know..
Last month I read 'Lonesome Dove', that was really good too. I never watched the TV series so I didn't know the story. Made me want to read more westerns.

Its taken me a while but I'm on book five of Game of Thrones, A Dance With Dragons and so far it's slow going and from what I've heard, it doesn't get any better but I'm going to stick it out until the end and hope that the next one will be worth the wait.
